Currently, we are seeking a compassionate and committed individual to join our team as a Full-Time Behaviour Support Assistant for a Primary Pupil Referral Unit located in central Southampton.

About the School: Our esteemed client is a Primary Pupil Referral Unit catering to students aged 5-11 who have been permanently excluded from mainstream schools. Situated in the heart of Southampton, this school provides a nurturing and supportive environment for students facing various challenges, including behaviour issues, non-attendance, self-harm, and social, emotional, and mental health difficulties (SEMH).

The Role: As a Behaviour Support Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting the emotional and educational development of these young learners. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing one-on-one support to students, helping them manage their emotions and behaviour effectively.
  • Assisting with the implementation of individualised behaviour plans and intervention strategies.
  • Creating a safe and inclusive learning environment where all students feel valued and supported.
  • Collaborating with teachers and other staff members to deliver tailored support and interventions.

Requirements: To excel in this role, you should possess:

  • Previous experience working with children or young people with challenging behaviour.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students and establish positive relationships.
  • Patience, empathy, and resilience in the face of challenging situations.
  • A genuine passion for making a difference in the lives of vulnerable children and young people.
  • Relevant qualifications or training in areas such as education, psychology, or social work would be advantageous but not essential.
