Internal Communications Manager (Commercial) - Swindon

Summary

We’re looking for an experienced internal communications professional who will plan, create and deliver innovative communication approaches to engage a range of audiences with an exciting programme of people and cultural change: the Fundraising Growth Programme.
This programme aims to ensure everyone at the National Trust feels inspired and equipped to play their part in fundraising and works together to enable our supporters to help us deliver our mission - so that more people benefit from nature, beauty and history.
The opportunity is for at least a twelve-month contract with a possible extension. You’ll need to be available for interview week commencing 24 June.
This is a part time position offering between 18.75 – 22.5 hours per week. Project Funded Fixed term contract – 12months +

What it's like to work here

This is an exciting time for fundraising at the National Trust as we embark on a programme of significant change and look forward to launching our new strategy in 2025. We know that Fundraising will have a major role to play in supporting this strategy, as it has been identified as the 'second engine of growth' for the Trust, with the biggest headroom for growth compared to other income streams.
You will plan, create, and deliver innovative communication approaches and content for a range of critical stakeholders for the Fundraising Growth Programme, including audiences who are not desk-based. The communications you create will engage our people with the programme in a way that is appropriate to their role and will help bring about the culture change needed to make the National Trust a truly “fundraising-friendly” organisation.
From your role within the internal communications team, you will work closely with the Fundraising Growth Programme's delivery team to craft tailored content and key messages that resonate with each of our stakeholder groups.

What you'll be doing

The National Trust’s staff and volunteers do a variety of incredible work in amazing places – including on our properties, looking after our landscapes and working in our cafes and shops. Our internal communications must be compelling and rich in content, to inspire conversations and resonate with all our people, including those who are not desk-based, in order to connect us all with our charitable purpose.
In this role you’ll join a team of internal communications professionals who are inspiring our people to ensure beauty, history and nature is for everyone, for ever.
Your line manager will be an Internal Communications Senior Manager and your area of work will be Fundraising.
Your contractual location will be our head office in Swindon and there will be an expectation for you to attend the office. However, there is flexibility on where you are based at other times. You will be required to work at a National Trust location for 40-60% of your working week. This will be discussed in more detail at interview.

Who we're looking for

You will be communications professional who brings the full range of internal communications skills and experience – stakeholder mapping and management, communications strategy and planning, creativity and on-time delivery. You will have experience of working across change programmes.
You can view the full role profile for this role in the document attached.
The ideal candidate will have the following knowledge and skills:•Proven track record in delivering communications through digital, print and face-to-face channels in a large complex organisation•Designing, executing and evaluating communications for internal change programmes•Developing and delivering an internal communications strategy and plan, which is flexible to respond to changing needs as/when they arise•Ability to think strategically and understand the broader organisational context and the implications for internal communications and various stakeholder groups•Understanding and experience of stakeholder mapping and management, including with senior stakeholders.•Creative thinking and problem-solving – able to advise on communication interventions in a broad range of scenarios, including crisis situations.•Ability to act as an internal consultant, building highly effective and collaborative relationships with senior line managers to deliver communications that meet their objectives•Communication skills – written and verbal
