Job summary

Due to relocation of our current practice lead nurse we have an opening for a new member of nursing staff to join our team.

We are looking for someone who is caring and compassionate, has a full range of nursing competencies within a primary care setting including long term condition management.

The hours are to be worked over 4 days, Mon - Thu. Hours of work can be discussed and we have some flexibility dependent on room space and cover within our existing nurse rota covering our opening hours (clinics run between -

An essential part of the role is for our enhanced access clinic to be covered, this takes place on a Monday

Main duties of the job

Working in accordance with the UKCC Code ofConduct, the post-holder will lead and develop the practice nursingteam in the provisionof assessment, treatment, screening, health education services and advice topatients.

To work independently to prescribe appropriatetreatments for patients having chronic disease management review.

The post-holder will develop (and ensure thatthe nursing team work with reference to) practice agreed protocols andguidelines to provide nursing treatments to patients both independently and inparticipation with nurse colleagues and general practitioners.

The post-holder willhave the required level of training and competence and will work within patientgroup directives where these are available.A nurse with prescribing qualifications will use them appropriately.

Act as Infection control lead in policy development; implementation ofstandards and provide specialist infection control advice to all staff andclinicians.

About us

We are an average sized practice with just over 8,000 pts. We have 4 partners, 1 FT ANP and PT salaried GP. Our nursing team comprises of PT Practice nurse lead, PT Practice nurse, PT Assistant practitioner (highly experienced HCA) and a PT phlebotomist.

We have an admin and reception team that supports the clinical team and patients.

We are a training and teaching practice and have medical students, physician associates and GP Registrars.

We are part of Lower Valley Primary Care network and work closely with our neighbouring practices.
