Job summary
We are looking for a dynamic, innovative and highly motivated Enhanced Practitioner [EP] . This Band 7 role is to be part of the EP Team based within the Bristol Heart Institute. Developmental Band 6 to 7 Trainee EP will be considered.
We are closely integrated group of 11 nurse Practitioners managing the care of patients who are either awaiting cardiac surgery or those who have undergone cardiac surgery.
We work closely along side the cardiac surgical team of Registrars and Consultants. Our role also extends to working closely with the Intensivist Team on Cardiac High Dependency areas.
In addition we work in partnership with the nursing team on wards C708, C705, C805, CCU and CICU. On occasion our role also extends to the Out-patient department C503.
Main duties of the job
Your role will include but will not be limited to:
Delivering high quality care to elective and emergency patients before and after cardiac surgical procedures Working across divisional and professional boundaries, encouraging inter-disciplinary working for the benefit of improved patient outcomes and efficient use of resources Ensuring the delivery of evidence based care to patients and be actively involved in audit of practice, research and service improvement Performing a wide variety of responsibilities previously undertaken by junior medical staff. Working closely with our Registrars and Consultant Surgeons.The ideal applicant will:
Be an experienced nurse who is a Non-Medical Prescriber Have a thorough knowledge of cardiovascular disease and cardiac procedures. Have excellent clinical, decision making and communication skills Be able to work as part of a team and autonomously as the situation requires Be committed to undertake continued professional development and working towards a Masters Level qualification. Have experience in managing the care for patients in a High Dependency and Ward environment. Be actively involved in service development and quality improvement.

Qualifications and Training
Essential
Registered Nurse 1st Level Advanced or Immediate Life Support provider Evidence of accredited post registration level 3 educational development in a relevant subject Non-medical prescribing qualification (B7) Physical Assessment and Clinical Reasoning qualification
Desirable
Health related diploma, degree, Masters or equivalent level of knowledge in the specialism Willing to or working towards non-medical prescribing qualification (B6)
Knowledge and Experience
Essential
Substantial experience of caring for patients with cardiac disease. Recent acute experience of caring for patients attending for cardiac surgery procedures. Evidence of developing relevant clinical expertise.

Formal and informal teaching experience Involvement in relevant professional networks/groups Research experience

Highly knowledgeable regarding up-to-date care of patients having Cardiac procedures. Familiar with NSF for CHD content and relevant NICE guidelines Relevant pharmaceutical knowledge (B7) Excellent team, interpersonal, leadership and organisational skills Ability to work independently or as part of a team as required. Competent with digital technology Demonstrates knowledge of relevant research (medical and nursing). Excellent presentation & Report writing skills Awareness of Cardiac Surgery data entry requirements. Physical assessment and diagnostic reasoning skills (or working towards) ECG interpretation Computer literate Assertive and self aware.
