About The Role

We have an exciting new opportunity for a Graduate Building Surveyor to join our team at our Head Office in Leith, Edinburgh. In this role, you will work closely with our established Property team, gaining valuable experience in providing comprehensive Building Surveying services across our Scottish Operational Estate and Property Assets.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in conducting dilapidations surveys, due diligence surveys, building pathology inspections, and regular property inspections

  • Support the undertaking of Schedule of Condition surveys

  • Contribute to advising on environmental, health, and safety issues related to Port and Property assets, including buildings and infrastructure

  • Assist with reinstatement cost assessments

  • Support with contractor management, ensuring compliance with CDM 2015 requirements

  • Help in preparing, reviewing, and advising on Risk Assessment and Method Statements (RAMS)

  • Support the Project Management of various ongoing construction works and standalone projects

  • Aid in building inspections and assist the Property and Asset Management team in managing and maintaining the Asset Risk Register

  • Collaborate with lawyers on estate management documents, such as rent reviews and Licences for Works

  • Provide day-to-day support for the Property team and the wider Scottish Operation

 

What We're Looking For:

This role is ideal for a recent graduate in Building Surveying who is eager to start their career in a dynamic and supportive environment. We are looking for someone who can work well as part of a team but also has the initiative to work independently when needed. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential, as you will be working closely with multiple internal and external stakeholders.

 

Qualifications and Skills:

  • An RICS-accredited degree in Building Surveying or a related discipline

  • A keen interest in pursuing a career in building surveying

  • Strong problem-solving skills and a commercially minded approach

  • Ability to manage tasks independently and see them through to completion

  • Full, clean UK driving license and access to a vehicle is preferred

  • Full UK working rights
