Job Overview
The PIER (Psychosis Intervention Early Recovery) team are a reasonably large team that serve Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland aged between 14 - 65 years old, as the name suggests the team supports those that are experiencing their first episode of Psychosis.
Psychosis can be a very distressing and worrying for those that experience it, it also has an impact on those who support and care for these affected, the team is designed to provide intensive support to service users and their families / carers for up to 3 years.
As an STR worker you will support a group of service users usually between 10 and 15 at anyone time, you will also lead on various group and one to one activities, we encourage our STR staff to gain qualifications in taking ECG's and Venipuncture (taking blood) and practicing these skills as part of the team Physical health clinics
You will work closely with all the other disciplines within the team including Medical, Psychological therapies, Psychology, other support staff, admin and Care Coordinators, the PIER team also link in with other NHS services as well as those in other statutory services and the voluntary sector.
Job Description Summary (Main duties and responsibilities)
Senior Healthcare Assistants support registered practitioners to deliver high quality, compassionate health care to people. The principal role of the Senior Healthcare Assistant is to assist the multidisciplinary team in the provision and delivery of patient care in line with an individual’s care plan under close but not direct supervision of registered practitioners. The Senior Health Care Assistant is responsible for providing personal and clinical care, undertaking clinical observations and other clinical and therapeutic interventions as delegated by the registered practitioner and in accordance with existing competencies.
Senior Healthcare Assistants provide care, support and monitor the physical and mental health and well-being of individuals in their care. The Senior Health Care Assistant will ensure that their practice is guided by standard operating procedures and established policies and guidelines. They will demonstrate self-directed development, recognising own limitations, and work within the scope of their role always. The Senior Health Care Assistant will act in a manner that upholds privacy, dignity, respect and confidentiality for patients and colleagues.
Senior healthcare support workers may supervise or guide other staff in their team. The role is undertaken following a period of experience in healthcare, so you can demonstrate best practice and act as a role model
