Applicants are invited for a Clinical Fellow post(ST3+ level) in Cardiology. The post is initially for 24 months, withthe possibility to extend thereafter.
This is an exciting opportunity to work with our Cardiologyteam, we offer specialist servicesin coronary angioplasty (including 24-hour PCI), electrophysiology (simple andcomplex ablations), cardiology devices (including CRT, S-ICDs and conductionsystem pacing) and cardiac imaging (complex echocardiography, cardiac MRI andcardiac CT).
The post-holder will have the opportunity to gain experiencein non-invasive investigations, core cardiology procedures includingechocardiography, diagnostic coronary angiography, and cardiac pacing as wellas core medical procedures. Duties willinclude the inpatient care of patients admitted with a variety of cardiac andmedical conditions. The job involves ageneral medicine on call currently 1:11 rota. The post-holder will have a namedEducational supervisor. Participation in local research, QIPS and audits willbe supported.
The post is ideal for those who wish to consolidate theirexperience in general cardiology and internal medicine. Previous experience in cardiology is be desirable but not essential. MRCP or equivalent will be required as isfull GMC registration with a license to practice.

Main duties of the job
The primary responsibility will be to support cardiologyreferrals, consultant-led ward rounds, supervising and teaching medicalstudents, junior doctors, allied health professionals. The main duties includeparticipating in a General Medical 1:11 on call at Alexandra Hospital in yearone, a 1:12 on call at Worcester Royal Hospital in year two, monthly mortalityand morbidity meetings, two outpatient clinics per week, and attendance toweekly multidisciplinary meetings.
This post is suitable for someone with a good grounding ingeneral medicine and cardiology, wishing to consolidate their skills in bothspecialties.

Job description
Job responsibilities
This is a 2-year rotation suitable for doctors wishing to consolidatetheir skills in acute and general Medicine, Cardiology training and exposure toNHS practices.
This is a full time post subject to NHS and Trust terms and conditionsof service and EWTD. The first year will be spent at the Alexandra HospitalRedditch. The job involves a general medicine on call currently 1:11 rota andprovides ample training opportunities for PACES exam. This is a full shift rotawith prospective cover, attracting an on call banding of 1B (40%). The post holder will have training in generalCardiology with 2 supervised Cardiology clinics a week, echocardiography, othernon-invasive tests, ambulatory BP and ECGs, cardiac event monitors; permanentpacemaker implantation and cardiac catheterisation sessions. At the Alexandra Hospital there is a stronginterest in heart failure and atrial fibrillation management.
The post holder will be encouraged to take part in audit and researchas part of their training as well as teaching of undergraduates and juniorcolleagues; participation in management meetings. They will have access to thesame training opportunities as other registrars and attend training daysorganised by the Specialty training committee.The budget to support training is currently set at £600 per year.
The second year will be at Worcestershire Royal Hospital with morefocus on Cardiology training and procedures including percutaneousintervention, complex devices, transoesophageal echocardiography, myocardialperfusion scans, CT coronary angiography, cardiac MRI as determined by the postholders specific interests. There will be general medicine on call at Worcesterwhich is currently 1:12.
