SEN Teaching Assistant

Location: Newcastle

Pay Scale: £75 - £110 per day

Required: September 2024

Contract Type: Part-Time/ Full-Time

GSL Education’s Newcastle branch is looking for an enthusiastic and sensitive SEN Teaching Assistant who can work with our client schools. This is a great opportunity for an individual who has a passion for working with young people and making a difference for those with Special Educational Needs.

Job summary:

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and other supporting staff to deliver specially adapted support to students with various needs. The role aims at supporting the student academically, socially, and emotionally so that they reach their level best.

As a SEN Teaching Assistant, your key responsibilities are to:

  • Assist developing and implementing tailored IEPs for students with SEN.
  • Provide one-on-one or small group support to students.
  • Help with classroom management and preparation of learning materials
  • Support students in developing social and communication skills.

As a SEN Teaching Assistant, essential requirements include:

  • Previous experience working with children with SEN needs is highly desirable.
  • Relevant qualifications in education or childcare are preferred.
  • Patience, empathy, and resilience.
  • An updated CV (covering last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
