Job Description:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support to a pupil with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in one of our excellent Primary Schools in North Shields. The successful candidate will work closely with the Class Teachers to develop and implement strategies to support the pupil's learning and behavior.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 support to the pupil with ASD, promoting their engagement and participation in lessons
  • Develop and implement strategies to support the pupil's learning and behavior, in collaboration with the Class Teachers
  • Communicate effectively with the Class Teachers, parents, and other professionals to ensure a consistent approach to supporting the pupil
  • Prepare resources and materials for lessons, as required
  • Supervise pupils during break times and lunch times, as needed

Requirements:

  • Enhanced DBS (ideally on the Update Service)
  • Recognized Childcare-based qualification (desirable)
  • Experience of supporting pupils with ASD in a school setting
  • Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
  • Resilient, proactive, and positive nature
