We have an exciting opportunity for well-organised, enthusiastic and self-motivated Pharmacy Technician with a keen interest in the provision of a Medicines Management service to paediatric patients.

The posts are suitable for patient focused Technicians who are sensitive to the needs of the patients, parents and carers with excellent patient counselling, communication and interpersonal skills. A methodical and flexible approach to working is essential. This a great opportunity to work with some brilliant specialist teams, and the potential to rotate to broaden experience and learning.

Main duties of the job

To accurately dispense NHS and private outpatient, in-patient and discharge prescriptions in accordance with the standard operating procedures. To accurately dispense 'unlicensed medicines', extemporaneous preparations and controlled drugs as required To dispense Clinical Trials in accordance with Good Clinical Practice Record issues, returns, and receipts in order to maintain an accurate stock balance To become a regionally accredited checking technician and to be responsible for maintaining the qualification

In conjunction with the ward pharmacists, maintain the One Stop Dispensing scheme for the designated wards (and self-administration as appropriate) in accordance with Trust policies.

Initiate supply of medicines against clinically screened prescriptions at the request of ward pharmacists

To be responsible for own continuing professional development (CPD).

To attend and participate in the various departmental meetings including the lunchtime CPD sessions

BTEC and NVQ Level 3 in Pharmaceutical Sciences or NVQ Diploma in Pharmacy Service Skills (QCF) Level 3 (City and Guilds) and Level 3 Diploma in Pharmaceutical Science (QCF) or equivalent qualification supported by Pharmacy work experience. GPhC registered Pharmacy Technician The following qualifications in progress or willing to work towards: Medicines Optimisation Accredited Checking Technician (ACPT)
