Position
An opportunity has arisen for a Charge Nurse at Ayrshire Central Hospital.
What you will do:
The Learning Disabilities Health Check Team are looking for an experienced autonomous practitioner to work within a small team, providing person centred health checks for people with a learning disability.
You will assume a senior role in the development of a robust and flexible service for the delivery of health checks for people with a learning disability and will have overall responsibility for the management of health checks across NHSA&A, providing summary reports of health check assessments as required. You will provide clinical leadership and supervision of junior staff, taking cognisance of personal/professional development, clinical supervision within existing systems and polices.
You will be geographically based within NHS Ayrshire & Arran and there will a requirement to undertake domiciliary visits as appropriate.

Knowledge, training and/or experience required to do the job:
You will be an experienced Registered Nurse with current NMC registration Nursing degree or equivalent qualification Demonstrate and provide highly specialised clinical expertise, knowledge and skills in the promotion and maintenance of optimum health for adults with learning disabilities and complex health needs. You will be familiar with and ensure implementation of all current local, regional and national policies, procedures and guidelines pertinent to all staff within area of responsibility and comply with their contents in the pursuit of the highest standards of patient care. Evidence of relevant skills / knowledge updated and documented. Well- developed written and verbal communication skills. Be able to supervise and provide a mentorship role junior staff. A commitment to lifelong learning and demonstrates evidence of continuing professional development. Proven track record of quality improvement and evidence of implementation. Be able to provide specialist advice and support to staff within NHSA&A, Primary & Acute Health CareHours:
37 per week
Fixed Term/Secondment:

Steve Wright Senior Nurse Learning Disabilities NHS Ayrshire & Arran North Ayrshire Health & Social Care Partnership:
From 1 April 2024, the working week for NHS Agenda for Change workers in Scotland will be reduced. Full-time hours will reduce from 37.5 to 37 hours (pro rata for part-time staff) without loss of earnings.
NHS Ayrshire and Arran will implement this change but it may not be possible to fully transition from 1 April and there may therefore be some areas of the organisation where implementation may take longer. If the department is currently unable to safely accommodate the reduced hours from 1st April, you may be required to work 37.5 hours per week (pro rata for part-time staff) until the department can meet the requirements without impacting patient safety - you will, of course, be remunerated accordingly. NHS Ayrshire and Arran is committed to full implementation of the 37 hour working week across all areas as soon as it is safe to do so
