Role Overview:
As a Youth Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting students' social, emotional, and academic development. You will work closely with young people who may be facing a variety of challenges, helping them to build resilience, develop positive behaviors, and achieve their full potential. Your role will include:
Providing Pastoral Support: Offering one-on-one and group support to students, helping them to navigate personal and social challenges. You will be a key figure in ensuring that students feel safe, supported, and able to engage fully with their education.
Promoting Positive Behavior: Working with students to encourage positive behavior and attitudes both in and out of the classroom. You will use your skills to help students develop social skills, manage their emotions, and build self-esteem.
Building Relationships: Establishing strong, trusting relationships with students, staff, and parents. Your ability to connect with young people will be crucial in supporting them to overcome obstacles and make positive life choices.
Intervention and Support Plans: Collaborating with teachers, SENCOs, and other support staff to create and implement individualized intervention plans for students. Your role will involve monitoring progress and adapting strategies to meet the evolving needs of each student.
Encouraging Engagement: Helping to re-engage students who may be at risk of disengaging from education. You will work to ensure that all students have the opportunity to participate fully in school life and achieve their academic goals.
Supporting School Initiatives: Assisting with school-wide initiatives aimed at promoting well-being, inclusivity, and a positive school culture. You will contribute to creating a supportive environment where all students feel valued and included.
Requirements:
- Experience working with young people, ideally in an educational or youth work setting.
- A strong understanding of the challenges faced by young people and a commitment to supporting their development.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students and staff.
- Patience, empathy, and resilience, with a positive approach to working with young people who may display challenging behaviors.
- The ability to work effectively as part of a team and contribute to a positive school environment.
