Job overview

Wycombe Day Surgery and the Surgical Admissions Unit (SAU) are looking for a dynamic Registered Band 4 Nursing Associates to join our friendly team.

Day Surgery is a fast-paced environment offering same day High Volume Low Complexity (HVLC) surgeries within a variety of surgical fields. 

Since Covid we have increased our productivity by 50% , and we have recently been awarded ‘Hub Accreditation’ status.

This is a great opportunity to be involved within a developing and rapidly evolving clinical setting, adapting, and changing to the needs of the community.

If you are a newly qualified Nursing Associate, you will be supported through the Trusts 2-year preceptorship programme. 

For experienced Nursing Associates, your development will be tailored to your individual needs and support is available for personal development.

To be suitable for this post you will need to have excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work on your own, but also as an integral part of the DSU team.

Main duties of the job

Provide compassionate, safe and effective care and support to people in a range of care settings. Contribute to ongoing assessment of patients, recognising when it is necessary to refer and escalate to a Registered Nurse for reassessment Monitor the condition and health needs of people within their care on a continual basis in partnership with people, families and carers  Record all care delivered appropriately an contemporaneously. Documentation must be clear, concise and legible. Any documentation must also be signed and 
dated. Communicate effectively with colleagues, providing clear verbal, digital or written information and instructions when sharing information, delegating or handing over 
responsibility for care.  Communicate effectively with patients when delivering cares, providing advice where appropriate.

Education

Essential criteria

Registered Nursing Associate on the NMC register Nursing Associate foundation degree qualification GCSE Grade A-C/Level 4-9 in Maths & English or skills functional level 2 Maths & English or equivalent

Desirable criteria

Mentorship qualification

Experience

Essential criteria

Experience in health care.

Desirable criteria

Previous experience as a Registered Nursing Associate Previous experience on a surgical ward

Skills & abilities

Essential criteria

Ability to communicate effectively (written, verbal and non-verbal communication) with patients/ relatives and carers and all members of the multi-disciplinary team

Desirable criteria

Venapuncture and Cannulation competency
