Working within the Strategy team you will have close links to the Corporate Operation team in supporting the delivery of high-quality care, realising our in-year ambitions through the delivery of the annual commitments and our multi year goals. An essential part of this role will be to support the business change needed in support of the new multi million-pound hospital planned for the LGI site.

We genuinely want to work with patients and the public to develop and enhance our services and welcome feedback on all aspects of our care.

Main duties of the job

Working closely with the Director of Transformation in the delivery of his portfolio of work you will have the opportunity to develop your own portfolio of work across a range of areas including

Delivery of the Trust Strategy and supporting strategies

Delivery and governance of the Trust Annual Commitments

Development and Implementation of the Strategic Fit Programme, which describes the work needed to ensure that the Trust makes the best use of its new buildings in pursuit of its ambition to be the most productive Trust in the country.

Development and implementation of the Private Patient Strategy with ambition to expand this aspect of service significantly over the next 5 years.

Support for the delivery of Operational Transformational working collaboratively with those Directors of Ops leading in 5 specific areas

o Outpatients

o Diagnostics

o Planned Care

o Cancer Care

o Unplanned Care

About us

You will have strong programme management skills as well as experience of budgetary management, operational and business planning, change management and influencing staff from a range of professional backgrounds. Experience of successful operational management at a middle management level would be desireable.

With good negotiating and influencing skills you will be an effective leader and team player with the ability to work in a diverse and complex organisation.

The Strategy and Planning Project Manager will be responsible for supporting the development and implementation of plans to deliver our strategy. They will manage a complex set of interdependent projects which contribute to our strategy goals. Projects will cover a diverse set of agendas including for example clinical services, capital investments, research and innovation, commercial and education and training.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

Degree in relevant discipline/ or demonstration of relevant transferrable knowledge and skills.

Desirable

Project / Programme Management Qualification such as Prince 2 or MSP or equivalent experience

Experience

Essential

Project Management competencies, including well developed planning and organisational skills and the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

Desirable

Experience of working at a strategic or Project Management level within the NHS.

Skills & Behaviours

Essential

Excellent communication skills, both written and oral and including presentation skills.

Desirable

To have demonstrably strong influencing, negotiating and communication skills and the ability to listen and respond to the needs of a wide range of stakeholders.

Other criteria

Essential

The ability to work under pressure within an area which is developing and fast moving, where the rules and direction of travel are not always well-defined.
