London, United Kingdom Nothing Full time

Who are we?

Here at Nothing, we're building a world where tech is fun again. Remember a time where every new product made you excited? We're bringing that back.

To get there we're gathering the creative and the curious. Those that are passionate enough to question the old and embrace the new. In return, you'll be part of a movement. Contributing to a global ecosystem of products that bring joy to people's lives.

In less than four years, we’ve sold over 2 million products worldwide, including Phone (1), which was listed on Time Magazine's Best Inventions of 2022 for Innovative Smartphone Design. In 2023, we released two second-generation products: the powerful audio companion Ear (2) and the highly anticipated Phone (2), marking our US debut. We also launched CMF by Nothing, our sub-brand focused on making wonderful design accessible to all. In March 2024, we welcomed our third smartphone, Phone (2a). A powerfully unique device that enables even more people to experience the best of Nothing innovation.

Our Culture

Radical spirit drives everything we do and spans seven offices around the globe. Our 4 core values sit at the heart of everything we do:

Be the change - we are proactive, action orientated and drive change, stepping outside of our comfort zone

Pride in the product - we obsess over detail, always improving and staying curious about tech and the world

Thrive on Diversity - we welcome differences, listen & communicate with respect and collaborate to build strong teams

Survive - we empower everyone to act as an owner and understand the business as a whole which leads to delivering exceptional results

If that sounds like something you'd like to be part of, read on...

We’re growing our team in King’s Cross, London and are looking for Interaction / Experience Designers with an interest in hardware interactions to join the Industrial Design team and help us to invent groundbreaking technology products. Our audience is global, and tech needs new voices at the table, so we’re serious about meeting designers of all genders, nationalities, backgrounds and experience levels in order to build a talented team with diverse perspectives.

Please note: this is not a purely digital UX/UI role and experience with hardware and technology is essential.

As a team, our Design practice covers a wide range of disciplines - Industrial Design, Engineering, Experience & Interaction Design, CMF, Connectivity, Sound and Emerging Technologies such as AI. In addition to your core design skills, we’re interested to hear about your own superpowers, both in and out of work, and how they might contribute to our technological re-invention.

We expect the following of all of our designers:

A bachelors degree or above in engineering, industrial design or related disciplines. Sharp skills of observation and critical thought Interesting and original idea generation and development Creative and collaborative problem solving Excellent visual, verbal and written communication Meticulous attention to detail Intuitive appreciation for user-centered design Honesty, transparency and empathy - we do what we say we’re going to do and we look after each other Great taste

As an Interaction Designer at Nothing, you’ll be central to shaping the look and feel of our products and will work primarily from our small studio in King’s Cross, London. Experience/Interaction Designers come in many shapes - you might have a background in Industrial Design, Human Computer Interaction, Graphic Design, Motion, Service Design, Human Factors or UX.

As a Hardware Interaction Designer we are also looking for:

An intuitive conviction about how things should work - you’re probably frustrated by bad systems and interfaces all the time. Experience in designing interaction systems which straddle hardware, software, and the invisible connective tissue between them - not just digital. Excellent digital design skills, probably using Figma, Sketch, Illustrator or similar. A hunger to research, conceive, specify and pitch new features, or whole product concepts. Someone who can speak some of the same language as engineers (software + hardware) in order to communicate clearly and problem solve together. Someone who can contribute to our evolving design language and system for the Glyph Interface.
