Glasgow, United Kingdom NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde Full time

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and job roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.

The shift pattern is, Monday to Friday, 8am-4pm.

(Please note the salary is Pro Rata) for part time hours.

The Pan GGC Gastroenterology Service is recruiting a Band 6 for 30 hours per week working within NHS GG&C- South Sector. Whilst predominantly based at Gartnavel Hospital, the new post holder will work in collaboration with the existing clinical nurse specialist team to facilitate provision of a South sector wide IBD nursing service.

Following a period of substantial training and support, The post holder will have the ability to work autonomously and have the ability to manage their own workload. The post holder will also work within the wider gastroenterology nursing team in the South sector and collaborate with the multi-disciplinary team.

We are looking for an experienced, highly motivated and enthusiastic registered nurse with excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills. You will be required to maintain and develop relationships with a wide range of internal and external contacts. You must have a flexible and organised approach and display a passion to deliver quality patient centred and evidence based care.

You will facilitate the delivery of treatment management plans and educate patients regarding diagnosis and treatment pathways. Upon completion of training, you will be expected to provide a nurse led outpatient review clinic at two out of the three hospital sites. Participation in MDT meetings and a confident approach when liaising with medical and nursing teams is essential.

You will facilitate care delivery through triage and management of patients via an already established telemedicine service. This is a clinical gastroenterology role and while IBD is a particular focus, the role will include support for the existing Gastroenterology services within the South sector and may cross into other luminal conditions such as IBS. The role requires you to work with patients, relatives/carers, primary care healthcare teams and GPs in order to promote early recognition of disease relapse, prompt management and preventing the need for unnecessary admission/readmission to hospital. Provision of an educational resource will therefore be an integral part of this role.

Full induction and training will be facilitated by the current clinical nurse specialists and supported by the senior nurse specialist and consultant medical team. This role is an exceptional opportunity for someone to further develop their own skills, whilst adding to the development of the IBD nursing service in this role and in addition the overall Gastroenterology nursing service.
