As a Team Lead Clinical Nurse Specialist, the post holder will be responsible for the assigned Diabetes service, clinically, professionally and managerially, which may cross traditional, professional & service boundaries. Within this senior role you will have current and significant experience working as a Clinical nurse specialist within the Diabetes service, preferably hold a non medical prescribing (NMP) certificate and have relevant knowledge on service requirements to facilitate as a change agent to improve quality. You will have the ability to focus on leadership, teaching, research & audit to deliver specialist care within various setting/ hospitals in GG&C as the service requires whilst contributing towards shaping future service improvements. You will work autonomously within the nursing, medical and multi-professional team, consult in nurse led clinics as appropriate and manage a small team of nurse specialists/ HSCW to ensure a high standard of care is maintained. It is essential you have the knowledge and skill set to competently perform the necessary technical/invasive/physical aspects of care to support patient compliance particularly with complex treatment regimes. you will possess substantial senior clinical experience with a high level of interpersonal, managerial & leadership skills creating a supportive ethos to ensure appropriate learning opportunities are met for staff development, participate in service change and encourage best practice to deliver a high quality of care to both in-patients and out-patients as appropriate within South / South West sector. You must have the ability to work independently as a Diabetes nurse specialist and possess confident communication skills to manage & support this specific client group and small team You will be experienced in staff rota regulation, financial budget control, staff appraisals, formal absence reviews /management and ensure the team works within regulated NMC policies. You will be responsible for consultancy, teaching, audit, research, participate in service development in conjunction with the Lead nurse and maintain service objectives to meet the changing demands of delivering specialized care across defined areas You will be responsible to engage with various teams, hospital clinicians and general practitioners to maintain excellent clinical links between these services, whilst upholding confidentiality at all times.
You will be expected to contribute professionally and posses a high level of ITC skills including eforms, Trakcare and portal. You will be based within the South Sector on a full time permanent basis and shift pattern is variable, mainly Monday - Friday as the service requirements dictate. It is essential that you are currently a NMC Registered Adult Nurse. This post requires membership of Disclosure Scotland's PVG Scheme.
