The post holder will be responsible for a full range of housekeeping duties which may include working on wards and in service user and staff areas.

The role is based within the Directorate of Facilities and Estates which provides a wide range of services to its Host Trust and Partners within Staffordshire, Stoke-on -Trent, Shropshire and Telford & Wrekin. The post is a bank position working for the housekeeping department in Stafford, St Georges. ST16 2SR

Main duties of the job

The post holder will provide a range of housekeeping duties that will include: Maintaining the required standard of cleaning services following the correct procedure and frequenciesUndertaking a variety of cleaning duties in line with the ward/area/location cleaning schedules (may include operating specialist equipment)Carrying out specialist cleaning and one off cleaning duties in line with Supervisors requirementsEnsuring that there is a general, pleasant and well maintained environment for service users

Skills and Experience Full training will be given for the role however; previous experience in a similar role would be an advantage, as would previous NHS experience.Candidates should meet all the essential aspects of the Person Specification which can be found at the rear of the Job Description.

JOB DETAILSJOB TITLE: Facilities Assistant (Housekeeping)BAND: 2DEPARTMENT: Housekeeping ServicesREPORTS TO: Housekeeping SupervisorACCOUNTABLE TO: Facilities ManagerJOB Housekeeping staff provide a clean and safe environment to our patients, visitors and staffensuring that a high standard of cleanliness in line with National Cleaning Standards, infectioncontrol and health and safety are met and maintainedThe post holder will be expected to work as part of the wider Housekeeping team, providing anintegrated and flexible service, and as such may sometimes be required to undertake duties withinother areas of the Hotel Services Department should the needs of the service demand it.ORGANISATIONAL STRUCTUREKEY RESPONSIBILITIESMain Duties and Responsibilities:-Maintain the required standard of cleaning services following the correct procedure and frequencies- Undertake a variety of cleaning duties in line with the ward/area/location cleaning schedules- Operate mechanical cleaning equipment

-Replenish disposables and consumables- Safely and correctly store cleaning chemicals and equipment- Carry out specialist cleaning and one-off cleaning duties in line with service requirements- Assist with laundry duties as and when requiredWhere applicable ward based duties as required: Ward based catering duties to ensure in conjunction with nursing staff that service users are provided with appropriate mealsRegenerate food, probe, record temperature of food and serveEnsure that meals are served in a presentable and timely manner and appropriate cutlery and condiments are suppliedAssist to ensure dining room area is ready for service and cleared afterwardsRecord waste levels at end of serviceClean regeneration trolleyOther:Support the supervisor on a day to day basisSupport the induction and training of other employeesComment on Housekeeping policies and proceduresWork in a team of housekeeping staff as required, assisting with training and guidanceComplete own timesheetsRespond to tasks that may arise in an emergency and times of staff shortageFlexible working within a teamMonitor and maintain stock levels, including keeping appropriate recordsTake part in cleanliness audits and follow up action as requiredTake a personal duty of care for all equipment that is used on a day to day basis as part of the roleReport any misuse of, or faulty equipment to the appropriate personThe post holder may be expected to open and lock buildings and set alarms ensuring our premises are secure at the end of the day.Systems and equipment (non-exhaustive):Floor scrubberRotowashBufferVacuum cleanerSteamersDecisions and judgements:
