Main duties and responsibility

To be the key professional expert on all matters relating to EDI.

Responsible for the management and implementation of Pirbright’s EDI strategy and related action plans, including diversity charters. Lead on driving the embedding of EDI into our everyday ways of working at the Institute. Monitor and review the impact of all equality, diversity and inclusion practices and policies. Collate, analyse and monitor relevant EDI data. Produce regular update reports for the EDIC and senior leadership. Suggest new and innovative ways to deliver EDI improvements at the Institute. Provide advice, support and guidance to colleagues and departments on EDI matters. To be an active member of the Institute EDIC and drive the actions arising in a timely manner. To be a champion of positive organisational culture. Ensure confidentiality is maintained in line with GDPR and compliance requirements. Review current processes and policies regularly to ensure they are robust and meet business need.

Personal specification

For this role we are looking for someone who has a good time management, reliability under pressure, decision making/problem solving skills, strong attention to detail, capacity to work alone and as part of a team, able to critically analyse own work, organized, systematic and flexible, ability to meet deadlines action-oriented and results driven.

Essential

A relevant degree or equivalent training/experience. Knowledge of the Equalities legislation and the application of EDI principles (preferably in a regulated sector/organisation). A developed understanding, passion and commitment to the principles of EDI. Experience as an EDI advisor/manager with a track record in effecting change and impact. Experience of delivering to Key Performance Indicators / Metrics. Experience and knowledge of diversity charters, including Athena Swan. Ability to influence and bring people together. Excellent organisation and planning skills. The ability and confidence to establish effective relationships at all levels of the organisation. Capable of working independently and assessing priorities. Ability to adapt in approach and to respond to changing requirements to obtain best outcomes. Excellent oral and written communication skills, with strong presentation skills. Excellent interpersonal skills and collaborative approach. Accurate data recording and record keeping. High level of personal integrity. Excellent MS Office skills.
