Long-Term Teachers are supporting an incredible special needs school based in the beautiful seaside town of Dawlish. Our school is seeking a dedicated, energetic and compassionate teaching assistant to join their team.


 

Ofsted rated ‘good’, with ‘outstanding’ in behaviour and attitudes, the school is committed to providing exceptional education and care for students aged 3 to 19 with a wide range of learning difficulties and disabilities. Their mission is to create a nurturing environment where every student can thrive and reach their full potential.


 

Key Responsibilities:


 

  • Support learning: Assist teachers in delivering personalised lessons, adapting materials and providing 1:1 or small group support to students
  • Encourage development: Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment, promoting the social and emotional wellbeing of the students
  • Collaborate: Work closely with teachers, parents and other staff members to develop and implement Individual Learning Plans (ILP’s) and track student progress
  • Engage and Inspire: Use creative and innovative methods to engage students in their learning, hoping them to overcome challenges and celebrate their achievements

  • Communication skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with students, colleagues and parents

  • Experience: Previous experience in a similar role is desirable, but not essential. You must have previous experience working with people with additional needs


 

A full induction and training will be provided and you will receive ongoing professional development opportunities. This will be a full time role, starting in September, working Monday to Friday, term time only.
