This is an exciting time to join a dynamic and innovative CAMHS workforce in Bath and North East Somerset (B&NES). We are situated in Keynsham, Bristol, covering approximately 50% of schools across B&NES. 

The B&NES MHST currently consists of Educational Mental Health Practitioners (EMHPs) and Child Wellbeing Practitioners (CWP's) delivering 1:1 and group interventions. In addition, EMHPs work closely with local schools to support them in adopting a ‘whole school approach’ to mental health and wellbeing, to improve outcomes for CYP, parents/carers and staff.

Main duties of the job

Working within B&NES MHST, your role will be to supervise EMHPs and help them to develop their role. Supervision consists of both Case Management Supervision and Clinical Skills Supervision, following a low intensity model.

This may include trainee EMHPs (Band 4) and/or qualified EMHPs / CWP's (Band 5). In addition, you will be involved in triaging and allocating referrals. You will also hold a small caseload, support with Whole School Approach delivery and will develop good working relationships with schools.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The BaNES MHST is a small and supportive team, working in around 50% of schools in B&NES. The team consists of 8 EMHP’s / CWP’s, Specialist SEN EMHP, two other Supervisors, Deputy Manager, Clinical Lead and Clinical Manager. In your role, you would supervise EMHPs / CWP's, be a lead contact for our schools and undertake pre-referral consultation and would also hold a small caseload.

You will receive regular case management supervision, clinical skills supervision, and supervision of supervision. You will work closely with the Deputy Team Manager and Clinical Team Manager and form part of the BaNES MHST leadership team. We are a continually evolving and developing service and as such you would be able to be at forefront of the development of our service.

The B&NES MHST works closely with the neighbouring MHST in Wiltshire. The post holder will be part of a cohort of 11 supervisors across both teams.

This role within CAMHS aims to develop the role of Education Mental Health Practitioners (EMHPs) in the B&NES Mental Health Support Team (MHST). It represents an opportunity for clinicians who have knowledge and experience in using evidence-based low intensity interventions to develop their careers, and support the development of this new, exciting service for young people and their families.

You will develop, and support and the Education Mental Health Practitioners to provide guided self-help, low intensity, brief, evidence-based CBT and to deliver groups and training. You will work closely with senior colleagues to screen and triage all referrals. The role will also involve highlighting areas of need within the new teams and helping to develop the service and create quality improvement plans supported by, and in conjunction with, senior colleagues. You will hold a small caseload in agreement with your supervisor.

Essential criteria

Recognised qualification in CBT informed evidenced based therapeutic intervention for children/young people and their families A professional mental health qualification and registration e.g., RMN, Social Work Degree or equivalent, BSc/Diploma in OT etc. OR Post graduate CBT or LI CBT qualification, e.g., CWP, EMHP or PWP

Experience

Essential criteria

Working within a community mental health setting.

Desirable criteria

Working with children/young people presenting with a range of moderate mental health presentations. Working within an educational setting supporting mental health provision.

Knowledge

Essential criteria

An understanding of evidenced-based, low intensity interventions for mild to moderate mental health difficulties An understanding of mental health and wellbeing support within educational settings Understanding of CYP-IAPT principles including the use of evidence-based therapies and Routine Outcome Measures All new starters have a 6 month probationary period.
