In brief, you’ll be the Alumni Relations events expert leading on in-person, hybrid and online stakeholder engagement activity. But don’t worry, you will be part of a highly collaborative Alumni team and will also work closely with other events professionals across Imperial to leverage alumni engagement at existing flagship events - such as the Business School’s annual takeover of the Natural History Museum You will manage the strategy and implantation of a diverse international alumni events portfolio and will support other high-profile initiatives such as welcoming the new Dean of the Business School, Professor Peter Todd into our global community.

More generally, you’ll have responsibility for the development and delivery of all aspects of events for Imperial College Business School’s Alumni Relations team. The role will be responsible the overall strategic direction, management, reporting and analysis of the alumni events and programming as well as the development of specific segments of the portfolio. It will also support alumni engagements that are event adjacent, providing logistical support to international trips, Affinity Groups (. Imperial Women’s Alumni Network) and the Alumni Advisory Board.

The role will help mobilise alumni to engage with, and support, the Business School proactively building a robust, engaged alumni network which inspires affinity with Imperial.

•Ability to demonstrate strong event management experience, including experience of running a variety of events, from large scale, complex events through to smaller, more intimate events. This events experience should range from both online to in person development and delivery.
• Knowledge of strategic planning and how events support an overall engagement strategy
• Highly developed organisational skills in events management, with evidence of strong project management, attention to detail, meticulous planning and organisational skills; ability to prioritise, work under pressure and manage a varied workload whilst being flexible to evolving or changing priorities
• Proven ability to pre-empt and solve problems
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, evidenced by background in writing promotional material and well as preparing comprehensive reports and making presentations
• Strong collaborative and influencing skills, able to work closely with other team members as well as develop strong stakeholder relationships, including across teams and with volunteers, and sensitivity in handling high profile guests and visitors
• Experience of compiling and managing budgets
• A professional and customer focused approach; tact and diplomacy to deal with people in all circumstances, including in crisis event situations, in a professional manner • Ability to provide leadership and direction to a collaborative team
• Ability to use large customer or membership databases, ideally Raiser’s Edge, and draw on data to support an events programme
• Effective use of the Microsoft Office package as well as the ability to learn new software systems
• A flexible approach to working, able to work evenings and weekends if needed
• Willingness to travel within and outside of the UK for specific events, should the need arise
