The Role

The National Integrated Panelling Authority (NIPA) is responsible for panelling soldiers, sailors, aviators, officers and civilians on individual training courses. The NIPA Team supports training establishments, units and individual members to manage requirements for courses from Individual Employment Training to the Pre-command Course. The role is accountable to perform and achieve procedural, operational, and business support functions. The role is accountable to gain and maintain a well-developed understanding of and compliance with relevant legislative frameworks, government decision-making and Defence’s mission and policy requirements. To be successful in this role, candidates will have strong organisational and interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and excellent communication skills with the ability to manage priorities, meet deadlines and exercise discretion.

In this role, you will interpret policy, legislation and procedures and provide support, guidance and advice to the work area. You will also provide assistance to personnel, including transfers and trainee management. This is a desk-based position involving computer use and working with others towards shared goals in a collaborative team environment. 

About our Team
The position is a key role working in a high tempo and integrated work environment, comprising military personnel and Australian Public Servants at all levels. The work team is responsive to internal and external stakeholders to achieve outcomes on behalf of the Headquarters Forces Command.

As an integral member of the team, the successful candidate will be required to coordinate and contribute to the work of the team. There may be a requirement to coach or supervise a small team and be accountable to set work priorities, allocate work, and manage workflows and performance. The position is located in historic, Victoria Barracks, Paddington which is close to the Sydney CBD with public transport at the gate.

Our ideal candidate will be a team-focused individual who is able to establish and maintain strong relationships within a network of internal and external stakeholders. They will be a results oriented self-starter, have good judgement and the ability to work independently or with limited guidance and will have great attention to detail with the ability to adapt to competing priorities and stay focused in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will be well organised with strong organisational skills and the ability to interpret and practically apply policy in a business context. 

Strong problem solving skills, practical personnel administration and previous experience working in a personnel management database, ideally in a training environment will be an advantage. They must be able to demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, possess good written and verbal communication skills and enjoy a challenge. They are expected to be capable of reviewing and developing the quality of work undertaken by others and identifying opportunities for on-the-job training within a work unit.
