Are you a nurse looking for a supportive team and the opportunity to develop new skills? This is an exciting time to join the community respiratory multi-disciplinary service in West Herts. We are developing new opportunities within our existing community respiratory services which will support the delivery of care in clinic settings and in people's homes, and to enable us to do this we have a range of new learning and development opportunities available through the CLCH Academy.

We have a new opportunity for a Band 4 Nursing Associate to join our community respiratory team.

Main duties of the job

You will be supported to develop and achieve competencies to provide individualised care to respiratory patients who are receiving home Oxygen, who are being managed in the Obstructive Sleep Apnoea (OSA) service and patients have long-term respiratory conditions. You will complete various nursing assessments and follow treatment regimes.

Working as a nursing associate you will need to be passionate and enthusiastic about patient care, putting patients at the heart of everything you do. You will be working in a dynamic respiratory multi-professional team and will need to be able to think on the spot, organise your day to day tasks and be empathetic. You will need to be able to work as part of a team and communicate effectively with other staff and will be passionate about our business, creating a culture of continuous improvement, where patient welfare is at the heart of all you do.

Qualifications

Essential

Registered Nursing Associate with current UK NMC registration Educated to a minimum level 5 Foundation degree level specific to nursing associate practice GCSEs Grade 9 - 4 in Maths and English or equivalent Care Certificate

Experience

Essential

Previous experience of working within a health / care setting in the field of area applied for Relevant experience of working self-directed or as part of a team. Evidence of continuing professional development

Skills

Essential

Understanding of the scope of the role of the Nursing Associate in context of the team and the organisation, and how the role contributes to service development Understands and acts in line with NMC professional standards for practice contained within the Code. Relevant clinical skills in the area of work Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to communicate effectively (written, verbal, non- verbal communication) with patients/relatives, carers and other members of the multi-disciplinary team. Ability to develop effective and appropriate relationships with people, their families, carers and colleagues. Ability to deal with non-routine and unpredictable nature of workload and individual patient contact Insight into how to evaluate own strengths and development needs, seeking advice when needed Ability to work well as part of a multidisciplinary team Ability to work on own initiative Ability to organise and prioritise own workload effectively Able to recognise own limitations in the context of the nursing associate role Knowledge of when to seek advice and escalate to an appropriate registered health or care professional Ability to participate in reflective practice and clinical supervision activities IT awareness and ability to use NHS systems Ability to support, supervise and act as a role model to nursing associate students, other learners and health care support workers as required within the clinical setting.
