Ansvar, who are proudly part of Benefact Group, are looking for a Technical Underwriting Specialist to join our Brighton office on a hybrid basis.
As a Technical Underwriting Specialist you will play a crucial role to the business in delivering business plan and achieving target underwriting quality and standards in line with underwriting strategy by developing and maintaining underwriting guides, procedures, technical training material to support delivery of the underwriting strategy.

- Acting as a specialist referral point and coach, around procedures, policy wordings, reinsurance, underwriting guides and audit recommendations, supporting the business unit in ensuring that standards are met and technical expertise cascaded, meeting defined levels of service (SLAs)
- Drafting and reviewing policy wordings, summaries of cover, application forms and clauses ensuring they comply with legal, reinsurance and regulatory parameters
- Developing and reviewing products as required by the business including wordings, product development and governance.
- Reviewing and developing free-format clauses drafted within the business
- Researching issues connected with policy wording development and escalating wordings issues to the wider business
- Working in partnership with Underwriting Operations to enable underwriting of quality business within appetite and individual UW licence
- Understanding and operating within regulatory framework including ELTO, product oversight and governance, audit and DA management and identifying and escalating any risks to the business
- Undertaking Underwriting Development projects
- Conducting audits and acting as a quality and development representative for UW and reinsurance matters, liaising with all areas of the business and escalating risks as required
- Proven track record and detailed knowledge of general insurance principles through reinsurance, underwriting or claims experience
- Proven analysis skills and ability to submit balanced and well considered recommendations
- Cert CII qualified
