About the role

We are seeking an experienced Centre Manager to join our ambitious team. The successful candidate will oversee the day-to-day operations of Smart Works Reading, ensuring we deliver high-quality services to our clients and maintain strong relationships with our volunteers and partners.

Key Responsibilities:


 1. Client Services:

Manage and coordinate the delivery of our dressing and coaching services Ensure all clients receive a high-quality, personalised experience Monitor and evaluate service outcomes, using data to drive improvements Develop and implement strategies to reach more women in need of our services Meet annual targets for client delivery
 

2. Volunteer Management:

Recruit, train, and coordinate a team of volunteers who support all aspects of delivering the Smart Works service Develop and maintain a volunteer rota to ensure adequate coverage for all client appointments, outreach events & fundraising events Provide ongoing support and development opportunities for volunteers Recognise and celebrate volunteer contributions
 

3. Stock Management:

Oversee the management of our clothing and accessories inventory Coordinate clothing donations from individuals and corporate partners Ensure the dressing room is well-stocked and organised Working with group implement systems for efficient stock rotation and disposal of unsuitable items

4. Partnerships and Community Engagement:

Build and maintain relationships with local job centres, women's organisations, and other referral partners Represent Smart Works Reading at community events and networking opportunities Creating and running Smart Works Reading events in the community job fairs etc Collaborate with local businesses to secure in-kind donations and support.
 

5. Operations and Administration:

Manage the day-to-day operations of the centre, including scheduling, budgeting, and reporting Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and Smart Works policies Maintain accurate client and volunteer records using our database Provide regular reports on centre performance to the Board of Trustees

Experience
Proven experience in managing a team and coordinating volunteers
Strong organisational and time management skills
Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities
Experience in client-facing roles, preferably in a charity or social service setting
Proficiency in using databases and Microsoft Office suite

Desirable:
Knowledge of the Reading and Thames Valley community
Understanding of employment challenges faced by women
Experience in retail or stock management

This is a full-time role based at our Reading centre. The role requires flexibility to occasionally work outside of normal office hours to support evening or weekend client appointments or community events.
