For the BBC to maintain its industry-leading reputation, there are multiple business teams working hard right across the organisation to make sure projects are delivered on time and within budget, so that our audiences get the very best from all of our BBC services.
On this apprenticeship, you will gain a thorough knowledge and understanding of project management theory and how to apply best practice in real working environments. Hands-on experience will enable you to continually develop your business and project management skills and give you the necessary experience to build a successful career in project management in the future.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
What will you be doing on the apprenticeship?
As a Project Management Apprentice, you will be introduced to the specialist subject of Project Management. You will gain real life Project Management experience working alongside experienced Project Management professionals across the BBC. You’ll get involved in a range of activities that could include learning about the inner workings of an organisation and how to manage people, projects, and operations for long term success; strategic decision making and leading a team. You may also contribute to live projects, within the BBC that have a real impact across the corporation and a range of departments.
By supporting various business teams across the BBC and gaining hands-on experience, you will continually develop your business and project management skills, enhancing your understanding of key issues in business, technology, project and people management, allowing you to consider how issues within the workplace impact an organisation.
What will you be studying?
You’ll study for your industry recognised apprenticeship qualification , learning both on the job at the BBC and off the job with our chosen education provider. The academic study involves attending instructor-led workshops, tutorial sessions, practical and library-based research, presentations, group work and real-world simulated projects.
The overall programme is split into 3 levels of learning that you will work through during your apprenticeship and will focus on the following:
The final stage and assessment will be an integrated End Point Assessment (EPA)
You will be working towards a BSc (Hons) Level 6 degree in Project Management. You will also attain an industry-recognised APM Project Management qualification (APM PMQ). In addition, on successful completion, you will be eligible to apply for full membership to APM (Association of Project Managers).

Where could the role take you?
On successful completion of your apprenticeship, you will be able to apply for job roles such as a Project Coordinator, Business Assistant or Business Coordinator, both inside and outside of the BBC.
This scheme starts in September 2025, and you will be on a fixed-term contract which means your contract is for the duration of the apprenticeship only. The duration of this scheme is 48 months.

Great Project Management Apprentices are those who can demonstrate they:
Have a passion to learn more about Business Management or Project Management Want to work with data or with business management information on a regular basis, generating reports, analysing data or using spreadsheets Be motivated and self-driven. You should be an effective team player with an ability to communicate with various stakeholders both internally and externallyThis scheme is aimed at non-graduates. To be eligible for an apprenticeship at the BBC, you must:
Be aged 18 or over when the apprenticeship starts in September 2025 By the start of the apprenticeship in September 2025, have lived in the UK or European Economic Area (EEA) for a minimum of 3 years Be eligible to work in the UK full time for the duration of the apprenticeship contract Not currently taking part in an apprenticeship scheme supported by the BBC or another organisationTo apply for this scheme, you must also:
Have, or expect to have, Maths and English GCSEs or Standard (Scotland) at 9-4 (A-C) or an equivalent qualification Have, or expect to have, a level 3 qualification(s), that equate to 96 UCAS points. This could be: A-Levels – 3 x C’s or above in any subject An Advanced apprenticeship, BTEC or NVQ will also be considered but must equate to 96 UCAS points. - UCAS points vary so please check your qualification Not have completed or hold qualifications in Project Management at the same or higher level

Apprentices starting at the BBC from September 2025 will be placed on a ‘Fixed Term’ contract. This means your contract is for the duration of your apprenticeship only. When you have successfully completed your apprenticeship, you will be required to apply for a job – this might be a job here at the BBC, or somewhere in the wider industry. The BBC is committed to investing in new talent and as you approach the end of your apprenticeship, we will work with you to support you and offer you employability training to help you secure your next role.
