Lowestoft, United Kingdom Northumbrian Water Full time

About the role

We have a fantastic opportunity to join the Water Tactical Planning team at an exciting time as we progress into our ambitious AMP8 investment programme. Managing our assets effectively and efficiently is key to delivering a fantastic service to our customers. This role is essential to delivering this ambition and supplying a clean, clear and reliable supply of drinking water to customers in our local communities. Our Asset Planners contribute to understanding asset issues and preparing optimised investment plans by working closely with our Operational, Maintenance and Investment teams, as well as our framework partners to analyse the root cause of asset and service failure to develop solutions.

Reporting to the Water Asset Manager (WAM) we are looking for you to confidently analyse information and assess risk and benefits to support value-based optimisation and decision making for asset needs. In this role you will develop Project Briefs that outlines the business need, root cause, performance risk, viable solutions using the totex hierarchy, and undertake cost benefit assessment to recommend a preferred solution. You will be a key stakeholder owning a capital project intervention or sub-programme until it is passed to our Capital Delivery team.

About you

We’re looking for the successful candidate to have proven experience of working with a range of stakeholders with strong communication and influencing skills. The ability to build good working relationships within your own team, with departments across the business and with supply partners is essential.

You’ll be comfortable interpreting a wide range of information and have excellent analytical skills which you have used to interpret complex data and produce accurate written reports. Experience of using Excel and Word is essential.

You will have a confident and flexible approach to planning and managing your time effectively to meet the needs of the team. You will be expected to use initiative to challenge, ensuring that our activities and plans deliver maximum value for the business.

It would be beneficial for you to have asset management experience or qualification, and knowledge of the water network or treatment processes. Knowledge of an engineering discipline would be beneficial. Whether you are a recent graduate or have relevant asset management experience, we are keen to hear how you can join our team and make a positive difference.

Here at Northumbrian Water, we embrace and value Diversity, Inclusion and Equity which means bringing your full self to work. We encourage and welcome all applications, as we believe and strive to be an equal opportunity employer committed in having a diverse community represented within all our teams, structures, and organisation.
