We are looking for a highly motivated professional Breakfast Manager to join our Front of House team at The Barnsdale.


The hotel overlooks the beautiful Rutland landscape with a picturesque courtyard, with a kitchen brigade providing fine dining using many ingredients sourced from the wealth of fine produce found in the locality. Encircled by idyllic surroundings on the north shore of Rutland Water, the hotel is a tranquil rural haven, close to the charming market towns of Oakham and Uppingham.

You will:  



  • Lead by example to achieve service standards of excellence in the Restaurant areas.
  • Maximise customer focus during every service by being present on the floor, ensuring that our guests get the best possible experience at all times.
  • Manage and co-ordinate service in all areas around the hotel including room service.
  • Ensure that all team members are trained to the Company standard allowing them to provide all of our guests with service standards of excellence.  Focus on service and knowledge training on a daily and weekly basis for all team members on an ongoing basis.
  • Aspire to train and develop all team members to a Tier 3 level
  • Assist in the recruitment, induction and training of new team members.  Follow development plans assigned to individuals to help them achieve their goals.
  • Stay up to date with menu knowledge and any menu changes in readiness to inform our guests and your team.  Work with the kitchen to devise upselling strategies and food pairings. 
  • Hold briefing meetings before each service involving all restaurant and bar team members and with the involvement of the kitchen team.
  • Ensure team members are dressed and equipped to the company standard.
  • Ensure efficient and productive staffing during service to maintain wage cost and motivation of the team.
  • Participate in the organisation and creation of event menus and the service offering.  
  • Manage, assist and support events, liaising with all departments to create bespoke memorable events for our guests.
  • Minimise stock and equipment losses through vigilance and implementing systems such as stock takes or par stock levels.
  • Ensure restaurant is adequately stocked with equipment and report or act on missing items or incorrect stock levels.
  • Daily set ups and closes are done correctly, and any financial, structural or operational discrepancies are reported immediately or acted upon.
  • Develop excellent knowledge of any systems used inc, Guestline, Resdiary, Fourth etc to maximise efficiencies and reservations.
  • Participate in regular meetings to maximise communication between all departments regarding all bookings and events, to ensure a memorable guest experience.
  • Ensure all deliveries are accurate and any discrepancies are recorded and suppliers/accounts notified immediately.
  • Ensure that all company rules and regulations relating to Hygiene, Health and Safety are being followed.
