The Financial Strategy team at NNUH is responsible for the development of sustainable financial plans, strategic capital planning, and monitoring of performance against the Trust's financial strategy. The Strategic Financial Analyst is an essential part of the team, helping to support and advise on all financial matters.

Main duties of the job

As part of a small team, the Strategic Financial Analyst will provide a central, comprehensive analytical support service to all stakeholders across the areas of cost and income modelling, strategic planning, financial improvement and reporting.

You will be involved in complex financial modelling, and medium-term planning in respect of the preparation and agreement of both project and the overall financial strategy models and managing the inter-relationships between the two.

Experience in interrogating all management information systems and knowledge of accounting principles.

The postholder will have experience in working with complex information and be driven to deliver high quality outputs whilst meeting a range of deadlines.

Job responsibilities

Support the Chief Financial Officer, Director of Finance Operations and Deputy Director of Finance Financial Strategy & Planning in developing the annual plan and financial strategy for the Trust. To generate and maintain planning and strategic financial models in accordance with agreed timetables and department policies and procedures. To prepare financial information for inclusion within business cases and other planning documentation. To meet regularly with internal stakeholders and to provide information and analysis to them. In addition to support communication of information between them and other departments within Finance. To resolve queries from managers, budget holders and divisional triumvirates regarding financial matters with minimal supervision. To assist the Deputy Director of Finance, Head of PMO and Deputy Director of Transformation to develop financial models and plans for centralized transformation and efficiency initiatives and provide support in the achievement of required cost improvement programme (CIP) targets. Supporting the Trust in efficient and effective use of resources. Using available tools such as benchmarking, Model Hospital and GIRFT, identify areas for improvement and work with colleagues to develop and implement plans to deliver against defined targets.
