Qualification and ExperienceQualified Teacher StatusDegree qualification or equivalentDemonstrable achievements in excellence as a teacherPrimary and secondary teachers are welcome to applyWe are keen to hear from applicants who specialise in maths and/or English, but we welcome all subject specialismsSkills, Knowledge and AbilitiesExpert understanding of innovative pedagogyExperience of assessment without levels including tracking pupil progressKnowledge and understanding of statutory assessment arrangements at the various key stagesKnowledge and understanding of effective strategies to manage the behaviour of pupilsExcellent knowledge of inclusion and equality, including SEMH, EAL, bilingual learners, ethnic minority, gender etc.Excellent understanding of safeguarding especially the safety and welfare of vulnerable and disadvantaged pupilsExpert knowledge of strategies for closing the gapThe ability and willingness to teach a range of subjectsContribution to the educational and social development of each young person The ability to form effective relationships with young people, their families (if appropriate) and external agenciesTo ensure that young people’s views and wishes are sought and acted upon where appropriateEnsure that appropriate resources and environment exist for individual pupils referred to the service, and that opportunity for inclusion are available to all our studentsTo liaise with other teachers and teaching assistants in the team to ensure effective deployment of resourcesPersonal qualities The ability to set high standards and act as a positive role model Self-belief, the ability to sense opportunities, and take the initiative in moving things forward in a positive way Effective communication, both orally and in writing, with pupils and adults Approachable, caring and kind The ability to work under pressure, have a sense of humour and appropriate work/life balance Establish and maintain constructive and open relationships with parents/carers, staff and the local community Possesses a strong set of values and beliefs and shows awareness of how these fit in with the values of the schoolCommitment to continued professional development and improvementDesirable
