Job summary

Beccles Medical Centre has an exciting opportunity for a hardworking, enthusiastic and innovative pharmacy technician to join our growing team of pharmacy technicians and clinical pharmacists. This role is offered on a full-time basis.

The post-holder will support the practice based clinical pharmacy team, to ensure the delivery of safe, effective and efficient systems for repeat prescribing, medicines optimisation, reducing medicines waste & maximising patient outcomes.

Main duties of the job

To undertake medicines reconciliation in accordance with practice protocols & to update patients medical records/prescribing accordingly. To support the achievement of the practices prescribing Quality & Outcomes Framework targets. To undertake patient-facing consultations, in the context of medication reviews & other clinical services relating to medicines management. Working with the senior pharmacy technician to contribute to the review & development of repeat prescribing protocols/standard operating procedures, to improve the efficiency & effectiveness of repeat prescribing systems. To provide advice to GPs, staff & patients, in changes to prescribing, to support the improvement of prescribing safety, quality & cost effectiveness. To participate in medication audits. To support the practice-based clinical pharmacist to provide medication reviews, patient information leaflets, medicine awareness, & to undertake community visits as appropriate.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

GCSE in Maths, English and Science BTEC / NVQ Level 3 in Pharmaceutical Sciences Candidates must be registered with the GPhC

Experience

Essential

Good clinical pharmacy knowledge, including terminology Knowledge and understanding of pharmacy law and ethics and current legislation. Evidence of continued professional development Previous work experience in a pharmacy or healthcare setting Experience of dealing directly with the public/patients. Ideally, previous work experience in primary care. Preferably experience of clinical audit. Ability to work effectively, independently and as part of a multi-skilled team. Computer literate in Microsoft Office packages. Accurate and detail oriented. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Ability to work under pressure in a busy environment. Ability to plan, prioritise and organise workload. Able to adapt and adjust to changing environments, guidance and protocols.

Desirable

Experience of using TPP's SystmOne clinical system is desirable.
