Working hours: Monday to Friday 09:00 -17:30

Holiday entitlement: 33 days including Bank holidays

Travel will be required for the role, so all candidates must be able to drive

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Compliance Manager to join our team, a growing network of 7 dental clinics in the UK. The Compliance Manager will ensure that our dental clinics adhere to legal standards, industry regulations, and in-house policies, with a strong focus on compliance with Care Quality Commission (CQC) regulations. Reporting to the Clinical Director, Christine Battison, this individual will play a critical role in enforcing compliance in all aspects of our operations, providing guidance on compliance matters, and fostering a culture of ethical practices within our organization.

Key Responsibilities

Policy Development and Implementation:

- Develop, implement, and manage an effective compliance program tailored to the dental healthcare industry to ensure adherence to all relevant UK laws and regulations, particularly CQC standards.

- Regularly review and update compliance policies and procedures to reflect changes in laws, regulations, and industry standards.

- Ensure all staff are trained on compliance policies, standards, and procedures.

Risk Management:

- Conduct risk assessments specific to dental clinic operations and identify potential areas of compliance vulnerability and risk.

- Develop and implement corrective action plans for resolution of compliance issues.

- Monitor and audit processes to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.

Regulatory Compliance:

- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the Care Quality Commission (CQC) regulations, Dental Health (General Dental Council) regulations, and other relevant legislation.

- Oversee the preparation and submission of necessary compliance documentation and reports to CQC and other regulatory authorities.

- Act as the primary contact for regulatory bodies, manage regulatory inspections and audits, and address any findings.

- Ensure that all clinics are meeting the CQC’s five key questions: Are they safe, effective, caring, responsive to people’s needs, and well-led?

Training and Communication:

- Design and conduct compliance training programs for all clinic staff, including new hires and ongoing education, with a focus on CQC standards and expectations.

- Communicate the importance of compliance and ethical behaviour to all levels of the organization.

- Provide guidance and support to staff on compliance-related issues and foster a culture of compliance and accountability.

Investigations and Reporting:

- Conduct thorough and objective investigations of compliance-related complaints and incidents.

- Prepare detailed reports on compliance activities, findings, and recommendations.

- Report significant compliance issues to senior management and recommend corrective actions.

Operational Support:

- Responsible for the weekly compliance meeting with Practice Managers

- Support managers in dealing with medical emergencies, complaints, significant events, safeguarding, incidents, and audit concerns.

- Ensure that all clinics are prepared for and pass CQC inspections and audits.

Qualifications:

- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a compliance role within the healthcare industry, with a minimum of 2 years experience within dentistry

- In-depth knowledge of CQC regulations, UK healthcare laws, and industry standards, particularly those related to dental practices.

- Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess complex compliance issues and develop effective solutions.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of training and influencing staff at all levels.

- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and project management skills.

- Ability to maintain composure and professionalism in high-pressure situations.
