About the service

Clifton Road is dedicated to assisting Unaccompanied Asylum-Seeking Young People through outreach services in their homes and communities. We offer personalised one-on-one support to foster their independence throughout the asylum process. Our assistance encompasses a variety of activities, from culinary guidance and city navigation to help with legal matters, educational pursuits, and emotional wellbeing.

In addition, we cater to individuals aged 16 to 21 in a residential environment. As part of our residential team, you'll contribute to creating more fulfilling lives for children, young people, and their families by implementing and delivering targeted interventions that align with our organisational standards and regulatory guidelines. The Clifton Road care service is committed to supporting young adults aged 16 to 21 who have experienced care, such as in local authority children's homes, foster care, or secure residential facilities. We offer a supportive residential setting, providing a spectrum of services tailored to meet each individual's needs. This is done in collaboration with various agencies to enhance the life prospects of these young people and aid them in achieving autonomous living.

As an Outreach Residential Support Worker, the primary focus of your role will be to deliver extensive outreach support to our unaccompanied asylum-seeking young people.

How you'll help to create brighter futures

Some key responsibilities for the Outreach Residential Support Worker are;

  • Provide lead case/care planning management, including assessing, reviewing and managing risk
  • Co-ordinating responsibilities within the service, with multi agency and producing family information, including analysis and written reports
  • Attendance at professional meetings including reviews, court work etc.
  • Implement and support individualised care plans for young people and conduct needs assessments and manage potential risks.
  • Handle the administration of medication and clinical procedures.
  • Provide emotional and social support and aid in developing independent living skills among children and young people.

Let's talk about you

Are you resilient and have a positive approach to change and challenge? We are looking for someone with a 'can do' attitude to join our team. Ideally you'll have:

  • Demonstrable experience of working in a care setting and developing positive relationships through trust
  • Application of a range of techniques to co-ordinate and communicate with service users and their families
  • Demonstrate a solution focused approach to address problems, individually and in a team setting
  • Demonstrate emotional resilience to respond to the challenging nature of the role
  • Possess a HNC in Residential Childcare or SVQ 3 or willing to complete this within 2 years of commencing employment with us, full support will be provided.

Diversity, equality and inclusion

At Action for Children, we're dedicated to building a diverse, inclusive, and authentic workplace.

We actively encourage applications from Black, Asian & Minority Ethnic and disabled candidates as they are under-represented within Action for Children. We want to take deliberate and purposeful action to ensure equal opportunity to all groups in society and for Action for Children.

Male staff are under-represented within our Children Service roles. We would like to encourage more male applicants for our Children Service roles.

Don't meet every single requirement?

If you're excited about this role but your experience doesn't align perfectly with the job description, we'd love you to apply anyway. You might just be the perfect person for this role, or another role within the Action for Children family.
