Youth Worker – Full-Time Position in Chorlton-cum-Hardy
Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated Youth Worker to join an Ofsted-rated "Good" secondary school in Chorlton-cum-Hardy. This full-time role begins in December and extends until the end of the academic year, with the opportunity for the role to become permanent based on performance. Weekly pay is between £419.25 and £500.
Role Overview:As a Youth Worker, you will play a crucial role in supporting the personal, social, and academic development of students, particularly those facing challenges that may impact their learning. You will work both one-on-one and in group settings to help students develop confidence, resilience, and positive attitudes towards school and their future.
Key Responsibilities:- Student Mentorship: Provide individual mentoring to students, offering guidance on academic, social, and emotional issues, and supporting them in setting and achieving personal goals.
- Behaviour Support: Work closely with students to address behavioural concerns, fostering positive behavioural strategies and helping them manage their actions within the school setting.
- Social and Emotional Development: Encourage emotional well-being by helping students build self-esteem, manage stress, and develop strong interpersonal skills.
- In-Class and Out-of-Class Support: Collaborate with teaching staff to offer tailored support for students in the classroom, as well as conducting out-of-class sessions to address specific needs.
- Engagement Activities: Organise and lead activities that promote engagement, teamwork, and self-expression, which may include lunchtime clubs, group discussions, or special projects.
- Conflict Resolution: Facilitate positive outcomes by helping students navigate conflicts with peers or staff, teaching problem-solving and effective communication techniques.
- Parental and Family Liaison: Act as a point of contact with parents and caregivers, sharing insights on students' progress and working collaboratively to support students' overall well-being.
- Collaboration with School Staff: Regularly communicate with teachers, SEN coordinators, and pastoral teams to ensure a comprehensive approach to student support.
- Record-Keeping and Monitoring: Maintain records of student interactions, noting progress, goals, and areas of concern, while ensuring that all safeguarding procedures are followed.
- Background in Youth Work, Social Work, or Education: Prior experience in a school setting or with young people in a support role is beneficial.
- Empathetic and Resilient: Able to build trusting relationships with students, showing understanding and patience while setting clear boundaries.
- Strong Communication Skills: Proficient in interacting with students, parents, and staff alike, conveying ideas and strategies effectively.
- Organised and Proactive: Capable of managing multiple responsibilities and actively seeking opportunities to engage with students.
- Passion for Making a Difference: Committed to supporting young people in reaching their full potential, with a focus on their overall development.
- Familiarity with Safeguarding Policies: Dedicated to maintaining a safe and supportive school environment by adhering to safeguarding practices.

- Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
