Thank you for your interest inthis exciting role as a Speech and Language Therapist in the Adult Speech andLanguage Therapy team based at East Oxford Health Centre. We are seeking anexperienced speech and language therapist who is passionate about people to providesupport to adults people with acquired communication and swallowingdifficulties.

Main duties of the job

The postholder will be an integral part of ateam of Speech and LanguageTherapists covering a designated locality area within Oxfordshire. The localityteam includes a Band 7 Clinical Lead SLT but the Band 6 post holder will alsolead clinical projects and developments in the area, be responsible formanaging their own clinical caseload and be involved in the team responsibilityto co-ordinate a Speech and Language Therapy service to community hospitals,nursing/residentialcare homes, patients homes and community clinics,within the localityarea.

Hours: hours Monday-Friday(part-time considered)

Shift Pattern: Start timeflexible from 8am onwards

Adult Community Speech and LanguageTherapy Services are an NHS service providing community support to adults withspeech, language and communication needs in Oxfordshire, plus supporting adultswith eating, drinking and swallowing difficulties.

The Responsibilities

If you are successful in yourapplication to this post, you will be expected to manage and deliver on theresponsibilities outlined below as well as those not included here, calltoday to discuss further:

To assess, develop and implement specialistspeech and language therapy treatments for patient with both communication andswallowing and feeding disorders.

To make appropriate clinical decisions followingassessments, including differential diagnosis on the basis of evidence fromassessment and develop clear care plans based on best practice.

To use clinical skills to generate writtenreports reflecting specialist knowledge

To provide appropriate specialist interventionand evaluate outcomes. To use skills to generate appropriate strategies forcaseload management for complex clinical issues.

Provide advice to others regarding themanagement and care of patients/clients.

Working collaboratively with various professionsacross a variety of locations and agencies.

To monitor auditory, visual and kinaesthetic aspectsof clients communication, adapting and facilitating according to perceivedclient needs.

To be successful in applyingfor this role you will need:

Degree level qualification or equivalent in Speechand Language Therapy

To be registered with the Health and CareProfessions Council (HCPC)

Experience of working in the NHS

Enhanced DBS

Formal dysphagia training

Excellent interpersonal skills
