About the role

GLL, the UK’s largest leisure provider and one of the first and largest leisure social enterprises, is looking for Gymnastics Coaches based at Abraham Moss Library & Leisure Centre, Manchester for our lessons and courses for children and young people that we are looking to start from Saturday 1st March 2025. 

A Gymnastics Coach is a highly rewarding role as a key player in 2012 Olympic legacy and in turn, our gymnastics courses are more popular than ever. You would be a passionate gymnastics coach live and breathe gymnastics and want to share that passion with your pupils and colleagues alike. Our gymnastics coaches are good all-rounders, you may also specialise in any of a number of disciplines that we teach such as artistic, rhythmic and acrobatic.

As an experienced gymnastics coach, you’ll be qualified to Level 1, 2 or 3. You’ll thrive on seeing others develop and as your courses and lessons will be your own to lead and plan, you’ll influence their success and growth. Ensuring the lessons are enjoyable, you’ll be able to think on your feet and be creative with the facilities around you, still making sure that your pupils are constantly observed and kept safe. Due to our size and scale, there will be plenty of hours available for you to coach and the bigger our courses get, the more opportunity there will be to further develop your career with us. We invest in our people as well as our facilities and we aim to upskill and progress people throughout their time with us.

Hours of Work

Our programme will initially run on Saturday mornings from 07:30am - 12:30pm which will include both the setting up and down of the used equipment. As the programme grows, so do the opportunities to teach this fantastic sport. We have the ability to extend the programme into Saturday afternoons, and deliver additional preschool lessons during the week. 

If you are not currently a Gymnastics Coach

Don't worry, we are hosting a Gymnastics Activity Instructor Qualification at the centre during February Half Term 2025. We are encouraging and welcoming local residents with a passion for working in sport or with young people, to come and upskill into our future gymnastics coaches. We will fund you through your course fees and set you off on your new career with GLL. 

What you need:

A can-do attitude A real focus on customer service. Passion and personality Knowledge of health and safety Be a great team player Qualified at Level 1, 2 or 3. However training can be given for those that would like to become gymnastics coaches.

What you’ll do:

Setting up equipment Deliver first-class customer service Deal with customer queries Teach high quality gymnastics at a variety of levels Deliver lessons that are safe, fun and progressive Safe coaching and supporting skills Complete registers and assessments of participants using GLL IPods Completing or assisting with equipment set ups Completing or assisting with warm ups and cool downs Assisting with the assessment process (award scheme and skills matrix) Providing parental feedback where required Level 1 coaches aged 18+ may be responsible for the overall delivery of lessons and courses
