The Opportunity:

Avantor is currently looking for a Shipping Technician (Life Sciences) , to join the team based in Cambridge, UK .In this position you’ll take ownership of supporting day to day operations of Samples Dispatch facilities.

This role will be a full-time, permanent position based in a brand-new facility at the customer site - The Discovery Centre, Bio-Medical Campus in Cambridge. Working hours: Monday – Friday, 9:00 – 17:00

The Team 

You’ll join a team of 6 Samples Dispatch Technicians, who are responsible for receiving, packing, preparing and shipping biological samples.You’ll belong to our business department Lab and Product Services, which supports big pharmaceutical companies and laboratories all over the world, in Research and Development within the Life Sciences industry. 

What we’re looking for

Education: High school or equivalent experience Experience: Previous experience in shipping is desirable. This could be from warehouse/logistics Shipping dangerous goods or scientific, and working in line with CLP, GHS and REACH regulations preferable Collaboration Tool: Exposure to stock ordering and warehouse management software 

How you’ll thrive and create an impact

Receive, pack, prepare and ship R&D samples, globally ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation and transport regulations (air/road/sea) Dispatch goods ensuring all relevant documentation and labelling is accurate and meets IATA/ADR/IMDG, Health and Safety, CLP (GHS) and customs standards Ensure that materials with special handling, storage or distribution requirements (such as hazardous shipments and temperature critical material) are accurately supervised Proactively track shipments and investigate any missing shipments or shipment errors Creation, maintenance and updating relevant documentation in support of service delivery, compliance and training
