Main duties of the job

Due to the increasing numbers and complexities of the BCYP and the families we care for, we are recruiting a Clinical Psychologist to strengthen and support the psychological, bereavement and counselling services that we provide to families across the East Midlands, covering all 5 counties in hospitals and community settings as well as here at Rainbows Hospice, Lark Rise, Loughborough. This role is hours (Monday to Friday) with potential evenings for sessions.

About us

Rainbows Hospice for Babies, Children and Young People (BYCP) is a 10 bedded Nurse led unit based in Loughborough Leicestershire. We also deliver services in hospital and community across the East Midlands. We are a multidisciplinary team that provides specialist palliative and end of life care for babies, children, and young people (aged 0-25) from across the East Midlands who have complex needs, including those who are technology and ventilator dependent.

About the role At Rainbows, family centered care is at the heart of what we do, ensuring that babies, children, young people, and their families receive the best possible care, have fun, socialise, and make the most of the time they have. Within this role you will provide expert psychological leadership advice, consultancy, and support to all the directorates in Rainbows and across the range of childrens and young peoples services we offer within childrens palliative care across the east midlands. Some of the key responsibilities include (but not limited to):Clinical responsibilities of undertaking specialist psychological assessments of children, young people and families, implement and evaluate plans for the formal psychological treatment and/or management of a clients psychological needs. Initiate and lead on, in conjunction with the Leadership Team, the development and implementation of new Emotional Health and Wellbeing initiatives across Rainbows promoting improvements to all aspects of the clinical service.Ensure the delivery of evidence based psychological interventions and evidence informed decision making for all Emotional Health and Wellbeing interventions, monitoring clinical effectiveness, best practice, and outcomes, modifying and adapting interventions, drawing on a range of theoretical and therapeutic models.Research, search evaluation and development responsibilities of researching opportunities to extend the childrens palliative care evidence base.Further responsibilities in the role of a Clinical Psychologist at Rainbows, can be found by downloading the Job Description. Requirements You will be a Registered Clinical Psychologist, with experience working with children and families with complex and palliative care needs.You will have the ability to work autonomously; planning, implementing and evaluating the psychological care of BCYP who have a life limiting or life-threatening condition across our clinical services: hospice, hospital and home.You will have experience in developing and leading teams and supporting the development of new services.You will be supported by an expert multi-disciplinary team, including Advanced Clinical Practitioners, Nurse Specialists, Support Workers & therapists.Further requirements can be found by downloading the JD/Person Specification. Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

Degree in clinical, counselling or health psychology British Psychological Society chartered status Current Registration with Heath Professions Council Completed practice supervision training

Experience

Essential

Substantial experience of working as a qualified psychologist, including extensive post qualification experience of working with children and family members with a range of psychological needs of a complex nature. Experience of exercising full clinical responsibility for clients psychological care and treatment, both as a professionally qualified care co-ordinator and also within the context of a multi-disciplinary care plan. Experience of teaching, training and providing professional and clinical supervision. Experience of representing psychological services within the context of multi-disciplinary care. Experience of developing and carrying out service evaluation, audit and research projects. Record of having published in peer reviewed academic or professional journals and/or books.

Desirable

Experience of representing the profession in local policy forums. Experience of multi-professional management of teams or services within childrens palliative care speciality
