Senior Rolling Stock Engineer’s / Rolling Stock Engineer’s are required on behalf of a leading Transport organisation, headquartered in London. As a Senior Rolling Stock Engineer, you will be tasked with providing specialist technical knowledge and responsible for delivering safe, compliant, efficient and assured engineering solutions.
The Rolling Stock team provide engineering support to Heavy Maintenance, Overhauls and Capital Renewals projects, defined in the organisations long term business plan. The variety of projects span across a range of Rolling Stock fleets and Engineering vehicles, including Track Recording Vehicles, Battery Locomotives and Wagons.
You will be both a technical expert in your field and capable of managing a team of delivery engineers, if required. You will provide technical guidance and advice in your position as a trusted source of engineering expertise for your team, peers, stakeholders and the wider business, including our Heads of Engineering Delivery.
The role is office based in central London, with a requirement to work on-site as the job requires.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead the coordination of work by multiple engineering disciplines
• Leadership of technical risk mitigation, with commercial awareness
• Provide technical and cost benefit analysis to the project
• Oversee and support the generation of Minor works authorities (MWAs) and Engineering Change Requests (CRSs)
• Oversee and support the project production teams by resolving complex technical queries
• Provides regular updates and progress reports on delivery milestones and project concerns to the Engineering Delivery Manager and Project Manager
Essential Skills, Knowledge and Experience
• Engineering Degree (BEng or MEng) or equivalent
• Chartered Engineer or working towards Chartership or equivalent working experience as a professional engineer
• Proven experience in an engineering industry, preferably Rolling Sock, or similar operationally complex and safety conscious industries (transport, automotive, airline, etc.)
• Experience of applying professional engineering judgement to support engineering maintenance projects or operational activities
• Knowledge of engineering safety management and its application within the railway environment or equivalent
• Experience of carrying out technical document review and analysis
• Experienced in the application of relevant Railway Standards commonly adopted for electrical systems on Rolling Sock
