The Role

Are you interested in being involved with cutting edge weaponry, military aircraft, flight and ground test activities and providing specialist aircraft engineering advice? 

If so, then this is the job for you. This position offers a rare opportunity to be involved in supporting Defence Weapons Testing at Air Warfare Engineering Squadron (AWE SQN), where you will partake in a wide variety of challenging and rewarding tasks while collaborating with a range of experts within the Test and Trials specialisation. As an APS 6 Test and Trials Section (TTS) member, you will work as part of a small team of specialists to deliver the following engineering outputs:

Deliver critical and complex technical activities within the Test and Trials field, providing advice and working to agreed priorities and outcomes. Identify issues and uncertainties, and incorporate these into advice, planning, decision-making and implementation. Leverage your technical knowledge within the Test and Trials field, to develop enhancements to established technical codes of practices, techniques, methods and regulations. Exercise assigned technical authorities and relevant Technical Regulatory Authority delegations. Assess technical packages, reports, processes, products and equipment performance against specified requirements, and then propose recommendations for continuous improvements and corrective actions. Evaluate products to ensure that the delivered capability meets requirements, legislative policy and regulatory frameworks. Evaluate technical activities to understand critical factors for success and engage in continuous improvement and innovation. Ensure safety aspects of Defence capability are considered and incorporated into technical activities.

Aircraft Instrumentation and Specialist Aerospace Advice Specialist Air Weapons and Stores Advice, (including preparation, loading, clearance and employment), and integration of AUS/US air weapons programs Electromagnetic Compatibility and Radio Frequency Analysis and Advice Aerodynamic Modelling, Weapon Danger Area and Safety Assessments Rapid Prototyping and Mechanical / Electrical Component and Systems Manufacture.
