Job Introduction
George Watson’s College wishes to appoint a **School Staff Instructor** as the key supporting role in an exciting project to establish, develop and manage the new South Edinburgh Schools Combined Cadet Force (Army). The School Staff Instructor (SSI) will be responsible for supporting the leadership teams across three schools initially, delivering the high standards of administration, logistics, training and planning support needed to ensure the safe, compliant and successful running of all Combined Cadet Force (CCF) activities and training as set out in AC72133 The Combined Cadet Force Regulations. In addition, the School Staff Instructor will also contribute to the School’s wider programme of outdoor education and adventure activities beyond those of the CCF (e.g. Duke of Edinburgh, S3 Projects etc).

Main Responsibilities
**MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES**

**1 CCF Administration**

To maintain accurate and up-to-date personnel records for all Contingent personnel, both Cadets and Cadet Force Adult Volunteers (CFAVs) in line with George Watson’s College (GWC), Ministry of Defence (MOD) and GDPR data protection requirements.

To be responsible for the overall administration, updating, maintenance and management of the CCF’s Management Information System (i.e. WESTMINSTER/BADER), e.g. updating test results, qualifications, parade registers, etc.

To provide an effective administration service in relation to the training and development of both Cadets and CFVAs, including:

- researching and booking relevant courses for both Cadets and CFVAs
- linking relevant courses and competitions to Cadets, working with the Contingent Commander to to ensure appropriate arrangements are put in place for attendance
- tracking the training and development of CFVAs to ensure sufficient numbers of qualified/competent personnel to deliver the CCF syllabus
- linking relevant courses to CFVAs to ensure that they are “upskilled” on an on-going basis
- ensuring accurate records are maintained on the MIS system for all training courses, events and competitions, etc

**2 Administration: Governance and Compliance**

To ensure all relevant Policy is adhered to by the South Edinburgh Schools’ Combined Cadet Force (CCF) in terms of relevant CCF activity, training and equipment management.

To ensure online access to all Publication and Pamphlets (i.e. MOD controlled documents explaining policy in areas of training).

To be responsible for the overall integrity of all the South Edinburgh Schools’ Combined Cadet Force MIS data (i.e. WESTMINSTER/BADER) and other CCF records, enabling the accurate and timely submission of all such records for external audit, as and when required.

To work with the GWC HR Team/MOD to ensure that all necessary/mandated governance training and checks are undertaken for CFAVs (i.e. PVG Scheme membership, security clearance, Rifle Based Training etc.

**3** **Activities and Training Events**

To support reconnaissance processes and activities for the CCF by attending recces of proposed activities, providing input from an administrative standpoint, and ensuring effective liaison with any catering/accommodation points of contact etc.

To make and manage appropriate bookings for external events and activities, including for example, transport, training support, Defence Training Estate, stores, ammunition, and weapons in line with established systems and as appropriate to the event or activity.

To manage the Contingent forecast of events, and undertake all necessary actions to ensure the CCF activities take place, confirming and communicating information to all relevant parties, including Cadets, Service Training Support Teams, etc.

To provide administrative/logístical support during external activities.

To maintain accurate records of all CCF activities on the MIS system, along with appropriate supporting documentation and timely submission to Single Service HQs where their advice, approval or assurance is required.

**4 Logistics, Stores and Finance**

To be responsible for the physical maintenance and operation of the South Edinburgh Schools’ Combined Cadet Force (CCF) Equipment and Material Stores, including:

- the administration of accurate records and registers
- managing the collection, issue, return and security of all Loan Stores items
- undertaking regular (e.g. weekly, monthly) checks and maintenance of all CCF clothing, kit and equipment, reporting any faults, issues or damage and organising appropriate remedial action
- ensuring adherence to necessary inspection regimes
- the appropriate management of any kit losses, etc.

To liaise with Single Service support staff, external providers and other Cadet Force units regarding any logistics, stores or finance related matters, as required.

To control and maintain the Contingent stores account, including the raising of both issue and receipt vouchers, submission of bills to the Contingent Commander for kit losses, and general
