The project: 
Are you looking for a career which is rewarding, at the cutting edge of project development and where you can really make a difference? Come and join our expanding Sizewell C (SZC) team and work on one of the most exciting and largest megaprojects in the UK, whilst being at the forefront of the UK’s climate change agenda and energy policy.
Sizewell C will be a 3.2-gigawatt power station generating low-carbon electricity for around 6 million homes, playing a key role in our energy future, supplying reliable, clean electricity for at least 60 years. This is an exciting opportunity to be involved right from the start of such a historic project. Work to date has primarily focused on enabling works for site readiness. Work is commencing with great speed in the following areas: road, rail, fencing, security, water systems, utilities, and the build of modular and industrial facilities.

You’ll be responsible for:

Maintain core areas of expertise and impart knowledge to drive the development and delivery of HSW across the Sizewell C project.

Maintain a focus on continuous improvement. Develop and apply tools and techniques, define business/project strategies and methods to initiate and/or implement change to improve project and business performance.

Provide professional advice to directors, managers and team members, to assist them in achieving project objectives; make positive / proactive interventions as necessary.

Maintain awareness of business implications of own activities to improve the quality of technical or business recommendations.

Maintain personal network. Create, develop and maintain an extensive range of internal/external relationships to maximise impact of expertise and knowledge to support and influence the quality of strategic decision making.

Understand the contractual and statutory requirements related to the projects within the defined portfolio and maintain ability to be able to advise accordingly to protect the project’s integrity.

Establish, develop and maintain corporate relationships with customers, partners and suppliers to assist the achievement of business targets.

Provide periodic reports to the project director and wider project team as required.

You’ll need to have:

Formal qualification in Safety Management (level 3 in UK), e.g. Nebosh Certificate (or equivalent). Plus additional H&S qualifications level 3 or above (or equivalent).

Strong organisational and time management skills to deliver to deadlines. 

Good communication skills, written and oral.

Ability to build rapport and good working relationships with people at all levels.

Ability to use own initiative, proactive and solution focused.

Digitally savvy.
