We have a fantastic opportunity for a Highways Operative to join the team at our offices in Bangor, Gwynedd. We are looking for a colleague who is already within this position; or looking to take the next step in your career. We are open to applications from candidates who live in; or can commute from some of the following areas: Bangor, Holyhead, Anglesey, Abergwyngregyn, Llandudno, Conwy, Colwyn Bay, Abergele, Rhyl, Prestatyn, Bodelwyddan, Denbigh, Ruthin, Llangollen, Bala, Barmouth, Portmeirion, Porthmadog, Penygroes, Caernarfon and the surrounding areas.

Role Responsibility
Reporting directly to the Operations Manager, the Highways Operative will carry out operational duties as part of the provision of a quality highways and street lighting operational service. You will undertake installation, maintenance and routine work for a full range of highway apparatus and assets.
On a day to day basis, the responsibilities of the Highways Operative will include the following (not exhaustive):
Construction including widening and repairing of roads, cycleways and footways Installation and repair of kerbs, edgings, block and flagged paving Repairing potholes and cracks in surfacing Maintaining roadside verges Excavating and reinstating trenches for duct and drainage installation Working on the installation and repairs to inspection chambers, road gullies, drainage and ducted systems When required, working on excavators, dumpers, rollers and telehandlers To work flexibly in the interests of the company including working on other schemes and projects which may be located outside the geographical area of The Isle of AngleseyPlease note - a requirement of this role is to be on a stand-by/call out rota to attend to emergencies and reactive work outside of normal working hours as required.
The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will be a Highways Operative who has previous experience in the following:
Previous experience of civils works, operating machinery and working on the highway A full understanding of utility drawings and the dangers of damaging underground and overhead services Experience of being an HGV Class 2 driver and NPORS or City and Guilds qualifications in gritter and snowplough for winter maintenance operations, or a willingness and commitment to train for this Willingness and commitment to work out of normal working hours as part of a rota system in all seasons Prior experience as a Plant Operator or a willingness and commitment to train for this role as required CSCS card
