1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant (TA) - Alternative Provision in Saltash

Are you passionate about making a real difference in the lives of young people with additional needs? We are seeking a dedicated 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to join a supportive and dynamic team at an alternative provision in Saltash. This role involves working closely with a student with an Educational Healthcare Plan (EHCP), supporting them to access the curriculum and thrive in their learning environment.

As a 1:1 SEN TA, you will collaborate with class teachers, on-site experts, and specialists to ensure the student receives the best possible support. Your primary focus will be to understand and meet the unique needs of the student, helping them to build confidence, independence, and a positive school experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 support to a student with an EHCP, adapting learning materials to their needs.
  • Work alongside the class teacher to deliver tailored interventions.
  • Collaborate with specialists and on-site experts to implement strategies that support the student's development.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Monitor the student’s progress and provide regular feedback to the class teacher and SENCO.
  • Assist with managing challenging behavior, using a patient and empathetic approach.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Experience working with children and young people with additional needs in an educational, care, or similarly transferable setting.
  • Patient, caring, and empathetic, with a strong commitment to supporting students with SEN.
  • Creative and adaptable in your approach to meeting individual needs.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work closely with other professionals.
  • Committed to making a positive impact on the student's educational journey and overall school experience.

Successful candidates will be required to:

  • Complete an online registration form.
  • Provide evidence of right to work in the UK.
  • Undergo an Enhanced DBS check (or be willing to apply for one).
  • Provide two references, including one from your most recent employer.
  • Attend an interview with a Teaching Personnel consultant to discuss your suitability for the role.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
