About Us: We work closely with a small, dedicated primary and secondary school specialising in Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. Our mission is to create a supportive and nurturing environment where every student can thrive academically and emotionally. We are looking for an enthusiastic SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a passionate team.

Position Overview: As a SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting students with social, emotional, and mental health challenges. You will work closely with teachers to create an inclusive learning environment that promotes resilience, confidence, and personal growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one and small group support to students with SEMH needs, fostering positive relationships and trust.
  • Assist in the implementation of personalized education plans (PEPs) and behavior management strategies.
  • Support students during lessons, helping them engage with the curriculum and manage their emotions.
  • Encourage positive behavior and social interactions, helping students develop essential life skills.
  • Collaborate with teachers and external professionals to monitor progress and adapt strategies as needed.
  • Participate in training and professional development to enhance your skills and knowledge in SEMH.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Relevant qualifications in education, childcare, or special needs is desirable but not preferred (e.g., Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification).
  • Experience working with children and young people with SEMH or related challenges is highly desirable.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and trust with students.
  • Empathy, patience, and a commitment to supporting the emotional well-being of all students.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and adapt to the needs of the classroom.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
