Due to recruiting an exceptional team of newly qualified Nurses and being close to having a full compliment of staff, we are now looking for Senior Staff Nurses to support and develop them on their journey across our new and established wards.

As part of that strategy, we recently announced a new salary structure designed to reward and recognise commitment by our Nurses. Depending on hours, experience and attendance, pay rates are rising by between 8% and 15%

Main duties of the job

Job Requirements:

You will be a qualified Nurse RMN/RNLD with 2+ years experience, can lead a shift, act as a mentor and manage a team whilst prioritising patient care. You will have a real passion for leading your shift teams in delivering safe care that you can be proud of and you will be comfortable making clinical decisions. Both flexible and adaptable to the needs of the patient you will have a real desire to improve the lives of those around you, take real satisfaction in making a difference to patients and enjoy up-skilling the support staff working for you.

Job responsibilities

Position: SeniorStaff Nurse

Hours: hours per week

Reports to: ServiceManager/Ward Manager

Responsiblefor: Patientsresident on Ward, Staff Nurses, Senior Support workers Support workers andthose who visit the ward

Main Role Purpose

To work according to the NMCCode of Professional Conduct and other professional and legislative guidelinesas a named nurse for a number of patients, taking responsibility for:

Protecting, supporting and improving the health ofindividual patients

Assessment of holistic care needs for patients.

Development, implementation and evaluation of careand treatment in collaboration with the individual patient.

Undertake active participation in effectivedischarge planning

To actively undertake management and leadership ofstaff in the absence of more senior nursing staff.

Tosupport the Service Manager/Clinical Team Manager in all aspects ensuring highstandards of Care delivery and compliance.

Toensure optimum quality of care for patients at all times.

Toproactively undertake developmental work to assist Managers in all aspects ofcontinually improving the standards of Care delivery; the measurable complianceof the service and increasing the knowledge base of the service in thetreatment and recovery of patients.

Towork proactively and ensure others within the nursing team also workproactively within the wider multidisciplinary team, fostering team work andensuring the holistic assessment and treatment needs of the patients are beingmet.

Totake an active role in the training and education of nursing staff and studentsto achieve high quality care through innovative and evidence based practice.

Toact as an ambassador for the service and organisation through all interactionsupholding the reputation and professionalism of the Team.

MainDuties/Responsibilities

Act as aNamed Nurse for identified patient(s)-ensuring all aspects of Care Planning areimplemented and reviewed according to relevant protocols. Support more juniorstaff in undertaking Named Nurse responsibilities.

Ensurethat patients are actively engaged and involved in their care and treatment.

Promotepatient involvement in wider organisational involvement.

Ensureand continually improve the quality of Individual evidence based care planning.

Ensureall patients have the opportunity to participate in risk assessments. Make surethey are relevant, clearly identify risks and any risk management plans areclear and consistent.

Ensurethat all standards of ward procedure are implemented to the highest standard.

Ensurepolicies for the safe storage, custody and safe administration of medicines arecarried out to the highest standard and undertake activities to improve wardbased systems.

Assistthe management and multidisciplinary teams in ensuring that all Clinicaldocumentation/procedures comply with all applicable legislation. Take positiveaction locally where concerns around legislative compliance occur and ensureeffective reporting to managers of any concerns.

Undertaketo provide clear concise, accurate and objective documentation in the form of:

Reports

Dailyrecording entries

Measurementand result recording

Medicineadministration records

Securityforms

Financialrecords

Otherdocumentation related to job role

Attend and take part in Ward Rounds, CPA , MHRT as required.

Ensure correct procedures take place for theAdmission and Discharge of Patients.

Pro-actively encourage, direct, support and train Staffnurses and Support workers in the management of work flows and throughdocumented Supervision.

Participate in the Mike One rota, followingcompletion of Mike One training; as required.

The role can be physically demanding and there is arequirement for all ward-based staff to be able to undertake physicalintervention training; and to be able to utilise these skills post training.

Business

Assistin ensure all relevant KPIs and Outcome measures are met, relevant to the Unit.

Alwayspromote the hospital by acting as an ambassador for Cheswold Park Hospital.

Maximisethe use of resources and reduce waste/usage where possible

Human Resources

Maintaina professional position at all times and ensure others around you do also.

Maintaina personal professional portfolio and ensure that you implement evidence basedclinical practice.

Undertakeand promote active engagement in clinical supervision, carryout clinicalsupervision for Staff nurses and Support workers as required.

Take anactive stance in the professional development and support of staff nurses,support workers and others influenced by the role.

EnsureSupport staff are only asked to perform tasks that are within their area ofresponsibility and levels of competence.

Health and Safety

Attendall Health and Safety updates and training required as part of hospitalstatutory training.

Assistin the maintenance of physical security and safety through regular monitoringand checks.

Activelyundertake responsibility for the Health, Safety and Welfare of him/herself andother employees in accordance with legislation and specific Policies andProcedures.

General
