This job acts as a leader in the provision of patient careusing the nursing process within the framework of the NursePractice Act ANA Code for Nurses and Scope & Standards ofPractice. Education

Required Registered nurse diploma.
PreferredAssociate or bachelors degree in nursing.

WorkExperience
Required Minimum of 2years

Certifications

Required Current registered nurse (RN) license in state ofpractice.

Current Basic Life Support (BLS)certification from the American Heart Association.

Preferred Certification in clinical specialtyarea.

KnowledgeSkills and Abilities (KSAs)

Heavy Work Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionallyand/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently and/or 10 to 20 poundsof force constantly to move objects. (Constantly: activity orcondition exists 2/3 or more of the time) to move objects. Physicaldemand requirements are in excess of those for Sedentary Work. Duties performedroutinely require exposure to blood body fluid andtissue.

The incumbent works in a patient carearea in an area where patients enter directly with patients and/orwith specimens that could contain communicable diseases. There maybe an occupational risk of exposure to communicablediseases.

Because the incumbent works within ahealthcare setting there may be an occupational risk for exposureto hazardous medications or hazardous waste within the environmentthrough receipt transport storage preparation dispensingadministration cleaning and/or disposal of contaminated waste. Therisk level of exposure may increase depending on the essential jobduties of the role.
