Ultrasound Clinical Lead Sonographer

Job summary
We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated sonographer to lead our busy ultrasound department. You will work closely with the modality lead to deliver a high quality service for our patients whilst meeting waiting list targets.
As an imaging team we have gone through a period of structural reorganisation. We are now managed through a site based division and feel this has given us the oversight, and support to deliver on our ambitions.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will act as a Clinical Lead Sonographer for Non-Obstetric Ultrasound and will be responsible for managing and upholding a safe and effective general ultrasound imaging service. They will undertake both clinical and managerial duties and deputise for the Ultrasound Modality Lead Sonographer when required.

Essential
Extensive experience in ultrasound imaging post qualification. Evidence of continuing professional development. Experience of post graduate teaching. Experience of recruitment.
Desirable
Undertaking appraisal practices. Training in DVT ultrasound. Attendance of a clinical supervisor course. Managing a budget. Writing business cases and policies. Demonstrable operational management experience in the health service.
Skills
Essential
High level inter-personal and communications skills. Able to work collaboratively with other disciplines. High level of work organisation, self-motivation, drive for performance and improvement plus flexibility in approach and attitude. Ability to deal with conflict and stressful situations. Ability to work under pressure. Effective leadership and team working. Computer literate. Ability to analyse complex problems and develop practical and workable solutions to address them. Ability to manage and deliver deadlines. The post holder is expected to develop his or her IT and managerial skills and take responsibility for organisation and running of the area they are working in and the supervision of all staff working with them.

An up-to-date knowledge of current and emerging ultrasound techniques and relevant topics / professional issues. Knowledge of current policies and legislation affecting service delivery. A good understanding of clinical governance and risk management

Participation experience of NHS leadership programs.
Qualifications
Essential
Post Graduate qualification in Medical Ultrasound. Current and up to date state registration through HCPC or other regulatory body. MSc in Medical Ultrasound or equivalent knowledge and experience Managerial qualification or equivalent knowledge and experience
Desirable
To hold a BSc Hons degree or DCR in Diagnostic Radiography.

Essential
Sufficient ability to perform the duties of the post with any aids and adaptations. A commitment to improving patient services through an ability to sustain a clear performance focus on achieving demanding goals. Be of smart personal appearance.-
