Portfolio Manager | Governance & Assurance

Salary: London – circa £90,000 / National – circa £80,000

Leading one of the most ambitious and complex transformations we’ve ever tackled is exciting but comes with risk. Our Insurance, Wealth and Retirement (IWR) business is seeking a Portfolio Manager | Governance & Assurance to manage that risk by ensuring we have robust decision-making processes in place, and we independently assure our agenda is on track.

This is a first line role that is perfect for someone who recognises the importance of good governance to successful delivery whilst ensuring any requirements are pragmatic and supportive to successful outcomes

A bit about the job:

Working under the guidance of the Head of IWR Portfolio Office, this role will ensure IWR’s transformation agenda is well governed and delivered within risk tolerances, applicable controls and group standards. We will also work to establish and execute a capability that facilitates independent assurance and health checks aimed at ensuring change risks are identified, assessed, managed and reported to support the safe delivery of change.

Specifically, the successful individual will maintain IWR’s Transformation Governance & Assurance Framework, develop our approach to delivery assurance, schedule and undertake delivery assurance reviews and complete Control & Standards Testing and identify thematic challenges that need attention.

You will also be responsible for coordinating between the oversight function to minimize duplication and disruption, whilst providing insightful reporting via applicable governance.

Aviva operates a “smart-working” policy meaning that we spend approximately half of our time (50%) working in an office, and this role can be based from any of our UK sites.

Skills and experience we’re looking for:

We’re looking for a professional that has been involved in programme delivery and understands what does (and does not) contribute to safe delivery. You would have also operated in a risk, governance or assurance role now or in the past. A pragmatist that also recognises the strong discipline that is required across an extremely complicated and interrelated portfolio. Partner management skills coupled with senior level influencing, relationship management and troubleshooting. Proven strong analytical skills.
